It’s hard to believe that Hatsukoi will probably get an anime adaptation in the future. Didn’t the manga end prematurely due to a “lack of interest”? oh well, if it is confirmed, let's see how it turns out.

Yes it ended early due to very low sales which just leaves one word in mind when I see that it's getting an anime, why?

Also this is one manga adaption where I'm hoping they heavily rewrite things because frankly it needs it.

Heh I was to post the same thing. Yeah hope they do certain things differently in the anime, did not like how the characters were introduce in the manga made it hard and confusing as to who was the main character(s) or if it was going to follow anyone specifiably also concentrate more on the interesting characters or even cut certain characters because they weren't interesting at all.

(Noticed this today while looking at the MOONPHASE anime page)

Looks like Waki Yamato's Asaki Yumemishi (Tale of Genji) manga will be animated, scheduled on January 2009. It's gonna take up the Noitamina block, after Nodame Cantabile Paris chapter.

I find it timely that they'll be animating this not long after Kure-nai, which contains many Tale of Genji references. What a way to commemorate 1000th anniversary of this epic novel.

Early death of the manga can't always be used as a predictor; just look at "Strawberry Panic". Two tankoban, only reaching the end of the first novel, then the manga dies; followed by an anime that only very distantly relates to either. It seems that all is fair in love and anime

Seeing as though you have all the material about it, would you create a thread for the upcoming Hatsukoi Limited anime NeoSam?

I don't know whether to feel happy or disconcerted about this announcement. Again, a choice I don't understand at all . If it’s something like Okawari, oh please, don’t give us more…

Anyway, I guess it’s better to see which studio is going to do this supposedly third installment before I get my hopes up—or down. I thoroughly enjoyed the first series, but I felt somewhat disappointed with the second. If they decide to do something with the Minami-ke franchise, they should stick with the manga this time around—which Okawari did not do as far as I know.

Oh wow, this could single-handedly counteract all the moe fanservice out there and restore balance to the Universe. Surely though they're not going to try and squeeze the whole thing into 11 episodes - perhaps they'll just adapt part of the manga and leave the door open to future seasons?

I'm ashamed to say that after all these years I still haven't read the novel. It seems that the Tyler Genji is the one to get - I've just been reading a lecture by the distinguished gentleman that I commend to all our hard-working and underappreciated TLs:

Quote:
... I used to assume that in many people's estimation there is no point in redoing a work that has already been "done,'' since what matters is to make it "available,'' as they say, in English and then move on. In other words, once the work has been "introduced'' in English, there is no point in "introducing'' it again. I took it for granted that this issue would have been forgotten by now in the case of the Western classics, their "introduction'' phase having passed long ago; but Robert Fagles told me that people ask him, too, why in the world he translated the Iliad and the Odyssey yet again. Those who ask the question do not understand that the job of translation will never be done for good, and that, in any case, there will always be people like me who like to translate, whether their product is needed or not.
Quote:
I was soon wondering what had given me the idea that I had ever understood a single paragraph. I could only look back wistfully on the experience of translating a book of folktales by the French writer Henri Pourrat. French being a language I actually know, I just typed. Genji was very different, but I persevered until I actually got to the end. Perhaps that is success enough for one lifetime.
