True, Battler did miss a lot of good opportunities, like asking if people can leave or come onto the island during the game, or whether body doubles are allowed for EPs after 1. Either of these can easily break almost all the closed rooms, so if he said them in blue, Beato would be forced to counter with the red if that is indeed possible for her to do. At the very least we would get some important clues about the series.

Also, I wonder what would happen if he tried to say 'Witches don't exist' in red. Unlike Beato saying the opposite to Battler, that couldn't lead to a stalemate even if he succeeded, because Beatrice cannot deny all red text and hope to have a chance at surviving. So if he is able to say it, either:

1. Both of them accept the red text and Beato is not a witch.
2. Beato denies that the red text always tells the truth, making the rest of the game a piece of cake for Battler since without the red text to counter it, the Devil's Proof is unbeatable. Plus if the red text was a lie, it's easy to argue that other things she shows him are lies.

Of course, if Battler ends up choking, that's probably pretty bad. Still, he could make the argument that such vital red text simply cannot be said until they 'look into the Braun tube', or that he choked for some other reason, like Ronove strangling him with his magic hands. (in the meta world, of course)

Personally I don't think blue text is a good enough push or indicator of truth. Beatrice seems to be just dodging the questions or chose to remain slience at some points when faced with a "blue text challenge" from Battler. It's hard to tell what Beatrice is thinking at the tea party, but it almost seems like she has given up; not becuase she was cornered by Battler's claims.

As to the red text of "witches don't exist"...that's interesting. I would definitely want to see that and see how the story develops from there, whether it's white or red text. Of course, Battler saying red text can just be as easily to be refuted as Ronove and Ange's red text. After all, from ep2,

真実を語る時、赤を使うことにする。
妾が赤で語ることは全て真実！

Beatrice (warawa mode) is the only person that claimed she would abide with the red text rule. No one else had.

My personal opinion is it is against the rules to make any statement that directly confirms or denies magic.

Either way Beatrice could automatically win by saying witches exist, or Battler could automatically win by saying witches do not exist. That would be pretty lame. We know that this game has some rules (see Ronove and Eva-Beatrice in episode3) we just do not know them. I'm pretty sure this is one of those else Eva-Beatrice would have right away used a red truth to confirm the existence of magic.

About Beatrice denying witches in episode3... that's obviously fake. That lame excuse to make Battler not hear what she says... I just can't believe he fell for it. The worst damage is Battler probably thinks that it is possible to do something like that, but i seriously doubt it is.

I think it's been noticed already and the answer at that time was: in that poll everyone can insert the name and character he wants, so it's not like all the character listed are actually in the game. It's not just Shion, there are a few others.

Well, yeah, but usually they just put the name down with no picture to go alongside it. It's the fact that she has an updated sprite to go alongside it that has me curious.

Ryuukishi posted about his progress in EP5 in his diary today.

Apparently, now that we're reaching the second half, things are going to change a lot, including a real counter attack from the mystery side.

Now, seeing as this Ryuukishi, who knows whether or how he might be trying to trick us. But it sounds interesting.

Also, I've got to say this is the highest spirits I've his diary in at this stage of production. Looks like EP5 is moving along smoothly.

Don't you mean Episode 7? Episode 5 would be the answer arc for ep1.

ep.5 on Higurashi was kinda different from the others, it was an exact repetition of ep2 seen from another point of view.

Well you never know. I honestly want an answer for EP 1 a little more than EP 2, especially with the Eva-Hideyoshi closed room.

Well ep1 is nice...an episode without any sort of fantasy elements in the main story. It would be nice to see how the killings were carried out, since some of my theories still havn't been shot down

But I want more light shine on that world of irregularties...and to see if

I just had a very very silly idea after rereading the first episode XD.
I do not know if this tradition does exist abroad but it was very commun at diner time to cut the animal you're gonna eat in a precise way so that each person of the family gets the part their status gives them ( like father head, mother.....do not know the english word but I think it is chest , and so on).

Could it be that the epitaph is actually a way to cook battler's familly? XD

Well nothing is 100% sure in this story.
But right now it's very unlikely that it wasn't Kinzo himself that did that. If kinzo died two years before, then the head at that time was Krauss. Being the head he was the only one who could allow the portrait and the epitaph being shown in the main hall. Why would he do that? The riddle clearly points to the secret gold. Even if we suppose Krauss knows where the gold is, why would he give to his brothers a chance to get the gold and the inheratance of the title? It doesn't make much sense to me.
Only the one who knows where the gold is could write the epitah. And only someone who has decisional power in the house could place it in the main hall.
