It's back, folks.
This week, Chapter 9, 10 and 11 are up for your reading pleasure, finishing out "Part 1" of the book. You get a nice medium-size chapter about Karl, and two short ones for Lotte and Reichwein. |

OMG! Another Monster was finally updated. I've been waiting for a year. Thank you thank you thank you!
I noticed a few inconsistencies with Another Monster vs Monster. Spoiler for Spoiler just in case people haven't seen/read Monster:

Chapter 12 - A brief and very very simplified history lesson in Czech-German relations, most importantly in the wake of WW2. Probably interesting and DEFINITELY a pain in the ass to translate, but don't bother with pointing out all the simplifications of the history presented within.

Chapter 13 - A longer chapter featuring Agent Suk. While it's still mostly just a recap of what actually happened with this character in the story, there are a few bits of new information and some surprising reactions (i.e. his answer to the Magnificent Steiner question). But not to worry, we will be delving into the more interesting and unfamiliar ground in good time...

Chapter 14 - Captain Karel Ranke of the former Czechoslovakian secret police. This is the first chapter where we really start to see interesting information revealed about the backgrounds of some of the more central characters to the story in Monster... in this case, the father of Franz Bonaparta. Expect to see a lot more of these backgrounds in the future of this book.

I have a question about the second chapter involving Tenma:
Spoiler:
Stpehen, thank you for all your work on everything Urasawa-related. You're my hero, seriously. "Another Monster" is a great read, and it proves once more how talented and smart Naoki Urasawa is. He's one of the best storytellers in the world, period. |

Makes me wonder if Tokyopop will release Another Monster...
Seen quite a couple of english Monster manga poping up even though I already own the chinese translated ones =D. They're like 3 times the price of those in chinese... Quite a rip off though... But I'd always buy novels translated by Tokyo Pop, they're relatively cheap on the other hand. Comparable to those taiwan translated novels. |
