Whether or not Erina is the main heroine, I don't CARE. The point is she hasn't done much to endear me to her. All she's done is put down others who don't conform to her way of food preparation properness.

mmmm it seems all previous bets and predictions are off. Didn't expect this sort of match up. It will be interesting to see whom tadakoro will go up against with. Now it is impossible to figure who will make it the finals.

Well that would be very interesting to see how much she has grown if she can make it to the finals.

Love both chapter 60 and 61, seeing how Tadakoro and Souma slowly bond in the balcony scene and how she notices something is wrong in Souma even though he never show it to everybody how frustrated that he lost to Hayama by a single point.

When i saw that kid hiding in Megumi's skirt in chapter 61 i was like....

ARGHHH !! WTF ARE U DOING MY MEGUMI'S SKIRT

(Later adds in afterthought) Damn lucky b****** ! Must make him teach me his special skills

I don't think Souma will fight Hayama anymore. He will probably be the fall guy for the reggae guy to prove his strength.
In order for the new guy to actually become a threat he must prove his strength by defeating someone strong first. Usually it would be the strongest chef Alice but defeating a rival or someone the main character lost to is also a very valuable option.
This is also probably the reason why the author let Hayama win and if it happens like I just said I am going to loath that development. There are a number of problems with this kind of storytelling. 1) It doesn’t matter if the new guy wins in something else then curry. This wouldn’t prove his strength. 2) Souma is already fighting the strongest chef and if he wins the other matches will be way less exiting.

The better option would have been to let Souma win against Hayama but the new guy score more than both of them. This would hype the new guy way more in my opinion than anyone the reggae guy wins now.

umh.....it is too early to say but it seems like they are pairing up different blocks people.4 me it will be Aldini vs alice's "doggy", megumi vs the giant(to give charge to MC)

IMO I think it was well done by the author to add the whole "find your wife" thing at the beginning of the series, it caused that the series has definitly romance in it (well aside from the case that it would be cancelled), which is a good thing, because that confirms that there WILL be romance at the end. Unlike other series, where the question if there will be romance at all in some form is a topic of endless pointless discussion. So it is good to know from the beginning.

Still I think it would be hilarious though if the author ended up to decide that the identity of the endgirl will be hidden, that would a nice troll.

BENTOU battle bitches.

Couple important things about bentou.

1. The food must be diverse, and consist of a full course balanced meal in a box.
2. All the food must be able to sustain its flavor (and safe to eat) in room temperature for half a day.

Bentou ain't just "food in a box", it's a work of ART.... edible art.

Megumi - That a guaranteed.
Alice - For obvious reason. But it also a hit or miss, hit being that his opponent is none than Soma while the miss is that she is really strong.
Akira - Already had a match with Soma already and so no uses for him any more.
Takumi - Same reason as Akira.

Fairly certainly Megumi will go against that everybody-called-Brazilian-for-some-reason-dude.

But I'm also expecting surprises!

Woa woa... usually I'd agree that Megumi will probably lose the first or at least second round (her getting into finals or even winning is very very very unlikely). But the theme of the 1st round is "O-Bento", so her food emitting a "homemade with love" aura seems to give her quite a big advantage in this round.

Bentou should be Megumi's forte. There is no reason why she should lose here, except for relapsing into her stage fright issues again.

How come that I got a gut feeling that the final opponent will be the last contender. And Hayama will lose to his first opponent.

Based on your logic, then Soma is going to lose to Alice?

For me, i think Megumi going to face Erina's dog. Both of them have similar cooking method (hospitality style).

As for Hayama, i can see him got owned by the Godhand.

I still root for this possible outcome: Soma vs Megumi. A natural prodigy vs an underdog.

Also i'm fairly certain that Soma will win otherwise this whole entire thing would have been very anti climactic. Alice might throw the match because she is interested in him and would want to see how far he could go. Winning against Alice would definitely get some points in Erina's favor

Also to just throw in my thought about Megumi and Erina, i'm an Erina fan all the way, Megumi is nice and all as a friend but epic cook Soma needs epic cook Erina, not girl A cook Megumi
