The page count says 270 but I doubt that's long enough to contain both novels...so I guess if they do include both volumes in one novel, they'll change that number somewhere down the line Either way, it's exciting news that we'll be seeing volume 10, and hopefully 11 too, in less than a year from now ^__^ Thanks for sharing this great news~ Can't wait to see what the paperback cover art will look like (and if they do put the two volumes in one, whether they'll choose to use volume 10 or 11's picture for the hardcover).

2 news items from the Sneaker's 25th anniversary event:
1. The Haruhi Suzumiya franchise is going to have a collaboration fair with Famitsu Bunko's giant hit Baka and Test tiltled Idiots, Haruhi, and a Collaboration. The only mention is that Itou will draw the Idiots. 2. The short story included in the new Itou artbook will be about Haruhi wearing a kimono. (details possible to change)

On Saturday while having a nice Korean dinner out in the Asian community of Flushing NY, a bevy of mostly Asian students from Queens College at the table next were chatting away about anime and I asked up whether they were familiar with Haruahi. After the laughs settled I got the notion from them that one popular speculation of the series conclusion is that it closes with a Madoka Magika-like ending with Haruahi and Sasaki realizing that they're each actually the amnesic split personality of God caused by a half-successful attempt by the "Dark One" (their words) to kill off God during Armageddon, so with Kyon as the secret clueless catalyst (a back-up insurance role he was always meant to be) the two girls fuse back into God and finish Armageddon. The hyper-entities in the series were designed to cover-up the truth of the two girls from the Dark One by making them appear as just mortal objects of intense self-serving research instead of vulnerable body-guarded halves of God. They get deeper about the details but that's the fascinating gist. One top wish list alternate epilogue is that if God wins the battle he/she/it returns to Kyon in a merged form of the two girls and offers to be human to live with him for a while as reward for giving her the experience of simple friendship (they mentioned the ending of a manga called "The Amazing 3" as an example of that). It was a fascinating chat and wish I could've recorded it somehow though a friend promised to find if this group has on-line hang-out as well I might hook into. If I get it I'll share it with you all. I'd like them to at least get these ideas down as a manga.

Amazon has listed The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya for a November 19 release. This novel will contain both JP volumes.

I've reviewed my copy of The Observation of Haruhi Suzumiya (novel fanbook) and there's a curious bit during the roundtable discussion: Quote:
