It was nice, fun episode, that took a little breather from the heavy action lately. Just like that, instant family. Kirito, you dog you.
Yui seems like a program, which still lacks complete AI programming; hence, she seems to have "amnesia. Her actions affected the whole system at the end of the episode, so she has to figure to probably be a part of it. Yes, the .hack// resemblance is strong with this one. The player he killed was a red/orange player, so it did not affect his status.

Wow did the pace slow down. It went from jumping months to days. Those army guys are pretty weak. Why ask for pennies and low level equip from people who likely don't go far. They can probably kill a couple monsters in level 30s in a couple minutes and earn more than from harassing those kids. Good showing of bullying of the weak in game I guess.
Oh cool the appearance of the old man fishing, an answer to the Q&A question I asked. He needs more screen time! Level of avatar, level of gear, level of catch. More, more more! Edit in: I thought it was explained there's only green and orange status by posters. Maybe I stopped reading the replies early. |

Spoiler for Note about Light Novel:
SAO anime is a show where you miss a lot if you're not paying attention. I started reading the LN after the murder mistery episodes but even back when I watched Ep. 4 I understood what they referred to green, orange, red (slang for PKers) and when you turn or not. |

No, a player cursor can never turn red. "Red players" are those who kill others, it's just a term normal players use (it's another way of calling them PKers, basically). Their cursors are orange. Player cursors can only be green or orange. If a green player attacks a person with an orange cursor, they can kill them without there being any ramifications.
Edit: Ninja'd. Multiple times. Damn it. :< |

Just watched Ep.11, nice change of pace, from all the action/battles last time.
The only thing that was somewhat strange was that even if you don't take damage in safe zones, wouldn't it be harassment if a player keeps attacking you inside the area?

I felt kind of bored at the first 2/3rds of this episode. I like Yui, but...it felt a bit too slow at the start. I know that was intentional and all, but...
I don't know. It was lacking something for me. 5/10 on this one. >.>

So since she doesn't fit the usual criteria for a NPC, they figure she's a player. Just a young, traumatized player as she doesn't look to be older than ten or so at best. Quote:

The anti-harassment system is meant to automate dealing with sexual harassment. As such, attacks aren't considered harassment. When in a safe zone, it isn't even considered criminal to attack someone as the system prevents you from harming them. |

Speaking of which, I hate the fact that the character designers took the lazy route with most of the background characters. As an MMO where people are forced to have their own faces, I'd expect it to be a great opportunity for people to look nothing like their profession, but without exception the designers make knights look like knights, lumberjacks look like lumberjacks, etc. I guess the latter was just a story being told be Kirito, but I feel like even the animators have forgotten that this is a game. Lumberjacks don't need to be stout men with mustaches.

And if you're wondering why an anime show is full of cute girls, you've probably already lost ^_^ Since Kirito didn't see the Lumberjack in question, having him look like a steretypical lumberjack does sorta make perfect sense. Also, since character avatar's don't really seem to age (two years later, remember) it's quite possible she was younger than eight when SAO started. That's awfully young, assuming she joined with her parents on day one a lot could go wrong in that time period. And since this episode showed us other young children, it's fairly obvious kids are indeed trapped in here. Last edited by Adigard; 2012-09-15 at 18:14. |

So, some were adamant there was absolutely nothing more that could have been shown in previous episodes with regards to KiritoxAsuna's romance build up. But then, and I quote Asuna:
"He isn't younger than I am, is he?" Cheesy love confirmed? She doesn't even know his age? Should I be surprised if she doesn't even know his full name? Unless that was some bad translation or something added in the anime, that is totally weak. Otherwise, slow episode really. Have to wait and see where it goes. But at least Yui interrupted the cheese. At first I thought she was that chick who died in that party Kirito joined. Hair looked similar. Thankfully, it's not that bad of a twist.

Also, that's a pretty standard MMO trope. I've played MMO's for damn near a decade and I really only knew the real names of a few player's, and it feels highly weird to be referred to with my own real name in a MMO... not something I enjoy much personally, and it's got nothing to do with role playing. |
