Aye they skipped the forest battle, and the Barious desert events are noticeably different.

I didn't really understand if there was any transition between volume 1 and 2, i.e. Selveria's appearance before Alicia in the last page.

This is the most realistic approach to war out of all adaptations so far. Plenty of blood, dead and wounded. Squad 7 didn't come out cheerily unscathed this time.

Interesting how they pushed Juno and Faldio between Welkin and Alicia. We'll see how it develops. On a related note it looks like this adaptation is not skipping the Isara/Rosie story development, which is a good thing.

Once again the supporting squad members are well included in the story. Enough spotlight to flesh them out without being distracting.

• Ouch, getting stabbed in the shoulder must've hurt for Alicia. Good thing she heals really fast (as in, instantaneously).
• So, did they make Juno an officer or something? It seems like it, considering how much she's in discussion with Welkin and Faldio.
• Seems bullets don't hurt a Valkyria in this. They just bounce off the flames.
• I lol'd so hard at seeing Fina, the bossy medic. Wish I knew exactly what she was yelling to Oscar.
• Jann apparently has been made part of the medical corps, instead of being a lancer. Oh well...
• Seeing Dallas go nuts over how Welkin was getting too close to Alicia was hilarious. And the subsequent bear hug? LOL!
• Isara's like a puppy when dealing with Rosie. Such cute Bambi eyes... and Rosie's still a bitch to her.
• Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Nadine has gotten a crush on Cezary, thinking he saved her life at Vasel. Boy, is he ever gonna hate that...
• Marina = amazing. That's all I can say.
• Aww, Welkin gave Isara a little noogie. Look at her blush... so kawaii...

Not much else that I haven't already said. A great installment.

Now we just need someone who can translate it all. For some reason, I can't request a translation anymore on Mangahelpers (or I can't find the place for it).

Fina told Oscar that he's being sent back to Randgriz to which he gets angry and says he still wants to fight. Fina points out that it's impossible with that wound. That's why they're arguing.

Juno doesn't seem to be an officer as she still has the Private rank insignia on her right shoulder. I think she's just using her special privilege as a close friend to Faldio and Welkin.

What I wonder is why Selveria didn't just finish Alicia off. Will try to read the convo when I have time.

Dunno about Jann. He was still a lancer in vol 1. I think he was just hanging around the medical station. Besides, he doesn't have the medic armband either.
On a related note there's two of the Fina triplets in one of the images.

You know, I just realized something while reading the manga. I don't think there's been any sign of Edy. Strange... I also don't think we've seen anything of Homer.

Yeah Edy is one of the missing characters so far.
Homer on the other hand does appear a few times, but as non-speaking cameos.

Spoiler for finding Homer:

Vol1 he's one of the shocked soldiers when Largo announces that they'll take Vasel Bridge unsupported.
Also I believe he's one of the dumbfounded soldiers staring at Alicia's mud dumplings (coincidently there's something with the same haircut as Edy in front of him)
Vol2 p12 he's sitting on the tank next to Hannes.

That felt like "Where's Wally/Waldo?" btw

We got decent cameos from quite a large cast so far so it IS surprising that popular Edy hasn't appeared.

The other missing ones are mostly unlockable characters, which is logical considering their story (and given the what happens in V2 we're going to see Emile soon imo).
Appart from those we haven't seen Wendy, Coby, Yoko, Noce, Walter, Nils and Alex either.

Ramona has sergeant rank insignia in vol 2 btw. Wonder if that's intentional or a graphic mistake up though.

I wonder if they'll skip Kloden or switch events around. At least it means we don't have to put up with Hans.

Well not really, she was just saying how she was also saved at Vasel bridge...by Cezary from an enemy sniper. He's sweating bullets in the next scene, because it wasn't him. and everyone is surprised, Someone *don't know who this character was, don't think it was Nadine.

But they say "Cezary...your such a nice guy, didn't you say that you hated Darcsens??.", he looks around and asks why everyone is looking at him.

Then he is about to spill the beans, saying something along the lines of "The one who shot at that time wasn't m-", was obviously gonna say that it wasn't him who shot.

The next scene says it all, that Glare that Marina gave him was a warning, possibly because she knew what he was about to do to Nadine. Or that she was just wanting him to shut up and not recieve any credit for it...dunno, but whatever the case that one wicked glare shut him up and Nadine probably still thinks that it was him who saved her.

She seems to just be thankful, not really getting a crush.

But I'm no expert at Japanese, anyone better then me could describe the scene again, that's what I got out of it from reading it.

eh...you are pretty much spot on, I think Marina just didn't want the extra attention on her. kind of fits her personality anyway...

and boy..Juno is VERY VERY aggressive in the manga..

Montley Leonard made an appearance too, I think the author really is trying to squeeze everyone in the storyline.

Started working on volume two last week. No schedule set since I have a lot more other things to do right now than I did eight months ago when I translated the first one (did all of that in a week and done by Christmas) plus various trips and things in the coming weeks.

Blame lack of raws on Share for it not being done already or I would have finished long ago during the time where I didn't have anything else to do. I don't use PD and never looked on general sites to see if raws were out there so I didn't know that there were raws floating around til earlier in the month.

No one even knows I did volume one, haha.

Also if you know of any better cleaned raws out there (one comment I saw about volume one said that they had better ones) or any joined pages then that would save a bit of time.

Actually i do remmeber reading your name in the credits. I would like to thank you for all of the hardwiork you did by yourself for VC vol1. I hope the translation for Vol 2 will come soon.

Juno: Thats alright, you don't have to hide it.

Juno: I love yeast (vital ingredient for bread) fungus myself~

Juno: I think it looks cute, and when I get bored, I usually spend time cultivating those things... *Alicia goes 'huh'* are you ok?

Narration: Juno, 22 years old, bacterial studies. A lover of the microscopic world. She concentrated her love on fungus studies.

Juno: Because you always smear yourself with yeast fungus, and I'd think we share the same passion... thats too bad.

Alicia: Please don't mention that again...

Narration: After the war, she went back to school and discovered a new strain of bacteria that would be beneficial to mankind. The new bacteria was named after a certain hero of the Gallian War, but thats another story.

Juno being super-duper absorbed into microbiology like Welkin is into animals/plants was priceless. On top of that, Alicia really exposed herself in a misunderstanding before mopping around in the end.
