It's up to you if you want to impose a "needs significant screentime" rule or not for your ISML.

I quite forgot the exact origins, but I distinctly remember a series of 4komas that helped spark it off.

Too bad. "Ponytailed girl" just doesn't cut it--there's no glory in supporting a character with that title, especially since the Kyonko-link was so tentative to begin with. Maybe the situation will change if she qualifies and 2ch agrees that she is in fact Kyonko, but at the moment, as far as I'm concerned, Kyonko failed to qualify, and much lulz was averted.

We'll see how crazy the voters are first. Lulz is only for entry, after that it is serious as moe tends to be in Saimoe.

Look at it as a way to kick KyoAni into a jump start.
(What would be sad would be failure and then she actually appears in the Lucky Star OVA.)

Gotta say, that was a wise decision by the Saimoe officials. It's going to be interesting whether she even makes it out of the Prelims now - from that name alone, nobody will know we actually mean Kyonko and we'd need to convince enough people that it is Kyonko. Fun challenge, but it's hardly the only joy of this year's Saimoe.

Hatsune Miku is accepted without question in both J and K Saimoe. This alone will quake all our speculations we had at the end of last year.

The only question is who, where, and how much to let the artists have at any sort of Kyonko Campaign for the "ponytailed girl". Since the majority is probably 2ch and/or Japanese...that would be target number one. And trying to not be annoying would help. The point would be to gain support, not garner hate.

All the Kyon-ko and Miku talk gives me a headache in this board. Wake me up when I can nominate Fate and Nanoha, or when I can nominate a Touhou girl. Now that'd be something to discuss.

Also, what Psieye says is very true, Miku's fanbase is LARRRGE.

It'd be nice to see how we convince the 2chnners 'Ponytailed Girl" is Kyonko.

What would be needed more than anything are pictures of Kyon~ko in a position as close to the ZSZS scene.

Also, Psieye, you mentioned to me that Sugita Tomokazu was speaking then? He is Kyon's VA after all. Subtle reference?

Dozens of characters trump her, imho... Maybe someone can explain to me what on earth makes her special?

She is neutral enough to have disputes and yet have enough notability to snatch votes. Popularity sometimes take an effect in this, or even for some reason the whole Miku camp went in and generate a sizable supporter base.

Granted she need a good draw to get a quarterfinals place, but consider even Kagami perished in a dead mire because of a poor draw against Rena last year in J Saimoe. However I'm quite confident that she can very well handle the likes of Coopa or Nia. She may even take on a Nagi-leveled opp if things go good enough.

As far as I've read no one had raised a complaint on why she isn't Kyonko, yet. Not a yell.

p.s. afaik one of the organizers is from Taiwan and should read English better than the rest of the pack; at any rate, having someone to do a petition in Japanese should do.
