On another thought, most people have different sized eyes anyways
Hah. Yeah, that's true about the different sizes of a person's eyes in real life. The size of the figure matters as well, IMHO. You also don't want the eyes to be looking 100% in the same direction, IMHO, esp. for a pose that has the character looking off to the side. It looks a bit unnatural.

One possibility is to put a bit of white color on the left edge of the right eye to shrink its pupil. Since the character is looking to the left, her right eye's pupil would be placed somewhere in-between the middle and left side of the eye.

The finished "Velvet" figure looks nice. How did you get the blurred effect on that... chain(?) she is swinging around? Is that a Shop effect?

Edit: O, NM. My mistake. The lighting kind of make the crystal look blurrier for that shot; the other images had them differently.

But either way, I too pre-ordered Canaan. Seems like such a well done figure.
Ah, I'm thinking about getting that too, and I haven't even watched the series yet

Overall though I think the character is well produced, at least in the official pictures.
sorry for being a pessemist, but this figure just don't do it for me.
I am almost caught up to all the episodes (at 8 right now) and I really like her as a character in the show, one more thing i discovered after watching the show. This could be the picture angle as well, but her face seems longer than the PVC. also her skin color in manga and anime has a darker tone..

http://www.goodsmile.info/detail/eng/2624/Canaan.html

There are more angles here if you want to confirm/invalidate your pessimism.

But I've grown accustomed to faces being ... off. I don't think any of my figures really capture their characters faces quite right. Horo for example, I have 4 different Horo figures currently with the 5th on the way (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), and all of them are different, none of them right. Some way worse than others (1 and 2 are terrible), but some very cute in their own right and seem to fit her character despite the differences.

I think the only figure I have that matches spot on with her anime counterpart is Drossel von Flügel. I swear she looks identical in figma form as she is in the anime. Aside from that I think the next closest might be my two Ryougi Shiki (1, 2) figures by Good Smile Company.

As for Canaans skin colour, it does seem perhaps too light toned, but I'm not going to hold that against the figure. Maybe once there's a comparison between the normal skin tones of figures and her, but currently by herself in a processed image, I can't say for sure.

^ That is true... not many figure has show accurate face... maybe that's why I am staying away from figures based on show. Even though I absolutely loves Horo, I never got her figure. Maybe just because her characteristic and rich facial expression makes her much superior in the show than figures. I got bounty hunter yoko this year because of the details on the figure. I do not think I've seen a Haruhi PVC with effed up face.

Do you know Billy Herrington?

Would you buy his figma figure?

I'm not sure why he has a figma, why he seems to be popular amongst the Japanese websites I frequent (and can't read)...

I must say I find some of the things people do with him and other figmas and such are rather humorous, some are quite homo-erotic but still funny.

Thousands of mash-up parody videos of him have been made, many of which utilize deliberate mishearings (soramimi 空耳) of lines from his films.[7] He is affectionately called "Big Brother" (兄貴 aniki) among the Nico Nico Douga community, and most of his videos are deliberately mistagged with "Wrestling Series (レスリングシリーズ wrestling series))", "Forest Fairy" (森の妖精 mori no yousei), "Philosophy" (哲学 tetsugaku), or both.[8]

Herrington visited Japan in February 2009 to attend in a live online event hosted by Nico Nico Douga and Garage kit maker Good Smile Company.[9] Herrington said that he is flattered and humbled by his fans' creativity.[10][11] A limited-edition Herrington figure was announced for a July 2009 release.[12] Two おther limited-editions Herrington action figures were announced for the Halloween and Christmas holiday. The Halloween figure is due to release October 2009 and the Christmas one is due to release on December 2009 both are Nico Nico Chyokuhan exclusives.[13]

That explains so much now. I never really caught his name until kenjiharima's post... I would have googled long ago to find out why he's such an internet phenomenon (at least in Japan).

I got the figure - as well as the "Ranka Lee" one that came out a couple of months ago - already. It's still in the original Amazon Japan box and wrapping, though.

The "Velvet" figure is coming out as a PVC at the end of the year, I believe, and looking at the publicity images, its right eye's pupil is actually at the left edge of that eye. Size-wise, the pupil is just touching that edge so the character doesn't look cross-eyed. Instead of putting the white color on the left side of the pupil to shrink it then, painting the color on the right side instead would be better, IMHO.

And what does that have to do with anything? I mean really? Are you passive aggressively suggesting that it is wrong to display figures because they may be nude?

Personally, I have my own house. And in my main living room, I have a few display cases of resin kits and plastic model's that I have built. A few of them have breasts prominently displayed. And what do my family and friends say? Normally, nothing. But every once in a while when I build something new, I get positive responses. Because they are able to look at the object as a piece of art. That or they're giving me the proper respect as it is my house and they are being respectful to what I decide to put on display.

Hell, my parent's friends bring kids over to my house. It is a sad state of affairs that people believe that they must shield everyone with some false image of moral sanctity.

Easy GB, it's an understandable question, though maybe formulated a little wrong

A quick question, does anyone recognize these girls? I've been asked, but personally don't recognize them, thought perhaps the community here might instead.

They were bought from an ebay listing titled something along the lines of 'Unknown anime gashapon figures - biker girls'

Thanks for your help!

The girl in the yellow jumpsuit is "Sayaka Yumi" from the "Mazinger" series, but I don't 100% recognize the girl in red even though I had seen the figure in the past. Maybe "Fyana" from "Armored Trooper Votoms"?
