Romance with a good male lead

I'm looking for romance anime where the main male character isn't a pussy. They know what they want, aren't apologetic, and basically has a pair.

Leads that I like:
Harima Kenji
Okazaki Tomoya
Kyon

Leads that I hated:
The guy in shuffle
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien
Hayate

Only male leads I can think of atm.

I've seen:
Kanon
Toradora
Air
Clannad
School Rumble
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
True Tears
Honey and Clover I/II

While I'm not 100% sure by what you mean in your description, but romance anime with good male leads are:

His and Her Circumstances (Kare Kano)
Touch
Whisper of the Heart (film)

Have you seen School Days? Main guy in that is like the overboard example of your suggestion, seeing as he has sex with several girls at his school.

Ranma of Ranma 1/2 definitely has balls, but in romance he's a little wishy-washy. But that show is mostly comedy anyway, so it isn't annoying.

Chiaki from Nodame Cantabile certainly is a strong male lead ( though he does have.. phobias about things ) - also if you liked Honey&Clover , I really suggest you check out Nodame Cantabile as well.

Naoki from Itazura Na Kiss is an absolutely generic male lead with a pair, though I don't like him that much, its a great romance though.

If you're willing to look into something with a healthy mix of action, I'd have to recommend Full Metal Panic! to you. There is a lot of action, but (I've forgotten how many times I've said this) there is good romance in this, and it really shines in the third season. Of course, Sousuke is as far from a whiny loser as you could get.

He is kind of clueless about relationships.

Try Inuyasha? Definitely a harsh male lead, and the romance is really long and drawn out. Painfully drawn out.

there's lots of good ones but they're mostly action with minor romance like trigun or cowboy bebop but..if your ok with ecchi Zero No Tsukaima, Kaze no Stigma and Toaru no Majutsu no Index should have strong pro's like the guy in clannad ..but these are also action oriented.

I'm pretty sure he fully falls into the pussy category. And Suzuka herself fully falls into the horrible bitch category.

Aishiteru ze Baby could be a good one, certainly not a traditional romance anime but Kippei is certainly not the wishy-washy male lead you get in most romance animes.
Planetes might also work, its not really a pure romance anime, but the male lead is pretty strong by the end of it all.
I'll give a strong second to Kare Kano and then I'll also second Nodame Cantabile and Cross Game.

Chobits - Hideki is a pretty good male lead. He never really acts like a little pussy (That I remember)

Canvas 2 Niji Iro no Sketch - There are times when I questioned him, but looking back on the series, I can say he was a strong lead.

Midori no Hibi - Main Delinquient male lead, similar to Harima Kenji.

Tenshi no Konamaiki - Wierd art and series...but another funny delinquient male lead.

There are some Romance/Other Genre I suggest, but dunno if you want mixes
Macross Frontier
Mushi-Uta
Fate/Stay Night
Kenshin

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't mind mixes as long as the romance progresses steadily.
