First off, that's quite the amazing cover page...Mashima's got a knack for those! And so, Meldy's lost magic seems to be of the living link type, but doesn't she literally make her last will by connecting herself to her enemies? If anyone dies, she dies too...there's probably more to it than this, otherwise she wouldn't have lived so long. Looking forward to Gray's reaction to all of this!

Wow, when Juvia is pissed, she is PISSED. I really do hope Gray comes to understand her feelings through this.

Also, Meldy's life-link magic is potentially devastating, especially to a Guild like Fairy Tail. Juvia's only real hope is somehow trapping Meldy without harming/killing her at this point. If she knocks Meldy out, it would knock out all 3 of them.

On the reverse side, there are a few big weaknesses to what she just did.
1) Meldy can now take the damage that Juvia and Gray take. So if Juvia knocks herself out, Meldy is out too.
2) Meldy can't hurt either of them without taking herself out, forcing the fight to a stand-still.
3) If the spell simply transfers the sensation, then its possible that someone with a higher pain tolerance/threshold could simply outlast her in this situation, and Meldy doesn't look incredibly durable.
4) Wildcard option, Juvia subdues Meldy in some silly, non-harmful way (like tickling).

The above is made assuming that the magic applies the same for Meldy as it does for Gray/Juvia. It might very well be a one-way link, and the damage transfers out to Gray/Juvia, but not vice-versa.

Also, was it just me, or did Meldy somehow force Juvia to "feel" the emotion she wanted? She simply stated that she would see what feelings arise when she looked at her beloved, then suddenly Juvia had the "Gray-sama!" response, which Meldy used for her magic.

A few panels at the start were hilarious, the second panel on page 3 had me rolling.

Judging by what Meldy said she doesn't seem to care for her own life if it is for Ultear anyway.
Meldy "forced" Juvia to feel/focus on her emotions for Gray to build up this link between those two. It seems it can only be done if a person can focus her love/hatred for another certain person. A pretty nasty situation. I can only see to overcome this link magic with Juvia abandoning her love for Gray (but that would keep the link between Meldy and Gray). So there is only the option left to shatter Meldy's hatred for Gray. Maybe it isn't needed that she gives up her hatred completely, just to make her unsure for a moment could be enough.
So or so, I pity Gray. He suffers damage due to 2 women and is in danger to be spotted by Ultear. No love for him.

And Rustyrose is asking for getting his ass kicked with his overload of arrogance.

Meldy's magic could be one of the most powerful seen so far.

Her idea of killing Gildartz suddenly seems possible now. She could probably link Natsu and Gildartz and go after Natsu instead (with back up). Depends how strong the connection has to be.

Luckily Juvia is incredibly powerful. If you have a connection with someone weak, Meldy can kill you no matter how powerful you are.

As a last resort, if Meldy hated you enough she could link to you and commit double suicide. No defense against that.

A link that links the senses and feelings of those attached to it. Melody attached it to herself so I'm willing to bet that as a result she'll end up taking on those feelings for Gray that Juvia has. If this is the case though then maybe it might mean that the hand that was shown was Juvia's hand. maybe se died to cut the link off from Gray and the power of her feelings because of it affected Melody and changed her.

Meldy didn't link their emotions, she linked their senses. Thus the reason Gray doesn't know why his face is burning up, despite Juvia clearly being embarrassed.

That was a good chapter. Though I'm a bit disappointed the only explanation we have for Meredy's power so far is "her feelings make it stronger".

I think what they were saying is that Mendy uses emotions as weapons, both her own emotions (her hatred for Gray) and her opponents' (Juvia's love for Gray) through her life-link magic.

Meredy uses more than Life-Link magic though. Prime example: The magical blades she used to cut Juvia even though she's made of water.

Yes, but we don't know the nature of those magic blade; if they are even anything that amazing in the first place. Erza was apparently able to do the same thing (injure Juvia) with her own weapons, thus the reason many were underwhelmed with Meldy until she started using her life-link magic this chapter.

There's plenty of foreshadowing for his upcoming battle with Ultear, so for now let's enjoy the long awaited Gray x Juvia development.

Melody said something about Gray making Ultear cry, so maybe Ultear's mad at him coz her mum died because of him.
