I wouldn't say changed - its all because the new series starts of with her being friendly towards Kazumi without her knowing it.

Like others said there really wasnt a need to redo what was done with season 1 so im glad they took a different route with her story. My biggest joy from this episode was getting to see who roomed with who and what there rooms look like...I think it helped show abit about each girl without saying much.

P.S. I adore that costume sayo snatched in zazie's room.

There was a reference in this episode to a book I love that isn't anime related. When Saya enters the computer at 17:54, the girls squeal, "Wintermute!" In case anyone actually hasn't read the book, you should. This is a reference to William Gibson's Neuromancer.

I wonder how long I will be able to stand all the randomness...
Episode was ok. Fun stuff all the way and more introductions (Asakura and Sayo).
0 development, yay?!

If you can't stand the randomness find another show because you are watching the wrong series for you. There's always another show.

It is not that I dont like the randomness, its just that I want some development. I totally acept the random jokes and PDD references, if those werent there this would end being a regular shounen.
But this is Negima, not a parody of MSN. What I wonder is if I would be able to continue watching this series if the randomness continues forever.

I dont really mind or care about the lose of character development honestly...If I want that I already have the manga and to a lesser extent the first series. Between the two they cover everything pretty nicely.

Instead for me this show is just enjoyable because I get to see already established characters in funny and crazy situations that ive never seen them in before.

Actually.. .its *Negima!?* (note the ?) --- They've jumped ahead a year, most of the relationships are assumed/established - so there isn't much to develop other than "who is pactio'ing next?" Not saying I'm totally happy with it or the tweaking of character personalities (Setsuna is mostly smitten, Asuna is dumb as rocks, Nodoka, well, they actually spruce her up some... Sayo gets a spruce up, Eva just seems to stomp around glowering and being secretly nicer than she professes to be).

But.. it is quite interesting to watch, mostly funny, they have LOTS of episodes to play with sidestories (and Negima is substantially a pack of sidestories) since the characters are established. Is it the definitive Negima? No... its more like the ultimate omake Negima.
Is that bad? Not so far.

ZELDA FTW!!!!!!! But I was wondering what she was doing with that pig doll set to "A"... or is that the Chansey one of you were talking about?

So... should I download the first series' episode 19 for the hell of it or what?

I thought that this episode was going to somewhat different when at the start we get a Love Hina-like title and then cut to Asuna's delivery...

This episode won because it had Zazie saying something. :3

I wasn't expecting much emotion for this Sayo episode compared to the past story. Its not really what this shows about - though i very much enjoyed episode 07. It packed together plenty of PPD fun, and i got to see Ayaka in 100% action.

Most definitely, as episode 19 is one of the few gems of the original series.

I think I liked Sayo's entrance in episode seven as much as I liked it in the manga, even though it was totally different and they did cut out one of my favorite spots where she says: "I tripped! And I don't even have any legs... " (probably because they drew her with legs here ).
I have to agree with Vexx - this is pretty much a glorified omake for the manga. Not that it's a bad thing, but I think people who haven't read the manga (or at least seen the first series) are going to have trouble getting through it, because the show assumes that the characters are already established in the viewer's mind. I'm enjoying the heck out of it, though.
