maybe i've been missing them when they come out. You guys have any suggestions?/

im sick of those anime's that are all ecchi or excel saga-ish.

i haven't seen something as elegant and beautiful as Kenshin OVA... i miss that anime so much....

Can you please list all the anime you've watched or provide a link? It helps a lot.

I will start by agreeing with you that Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal is pretty much one of the most beautiful things I've seen.

I second Cowboy Bebop, even though it's pretty episodic.

I will suggest Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, even though I have no clue what it's about and have never watched any of it.

While I'm not claiming that any of the anime below is epic in any way, I think that they're good:

Claymore: It's a pretty decent action anime, probably one of the best shounen anime that's aired recently.

Seirei no Moribito: This series is incredible, with an excellent mix of action, adventure, and fantasy. It also has beautiful artwork and music.

Have you watched Elfen Lied? You might like it.

YOU HAVE NOT BEEN LOOKING VERY HARD LOL

It seems you like a good deal of action, so I'll recommend KARAS, Read or Die, and Samurai Champloo

however you also seem to like a good story so I recommend Tenge n Toppa Gurren Lagann, Eureka Seven, and Baccano!

If you want to something more unorthodox, check out the other stuff in my favorites list :O

ok yes i've seen all of that, dont know why i didnt list them too

cowboy bepop(awesome...nuff said)
claymore (was good....but not good enough)
samurai champloo (loved the sountrack more than the anime for some reason)
Tenjo Tenge
Death note (was good for awhile til it got too tedious)

oh yea, GunGrave.

the only anime that has really come close to sort of "epic" that was recent was maybe afro samurai...

hmmmm.......

i think thats all the anime that really deserves to be mentioned.

(naruto and bleach failed because of all of their stupid fillers. )

If I use the above as the measuring stick, then off the top of my head I would say:

Fully aired/completed:
Baccano - I doubt you've ever seen anything like this. 10 years from now we'll being calling Baccano a classic.
Black Lagoon
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

New and soon to be aired:
Macross Frontier - only the pilot episode has been released...but O.M.G.
Mnemosyne no Musumetachi - very promising OVA

I'll second Baccano! based on your tastes and the fact that more people need to watch this anime. Remember, we failed Baccano!, it didn't fail us!

It's true that every time I try hard enough, I can discovery a good anime I enjoy. However, I think that recently, there's been more "average" anime than "good" to "excellent" anime.

And I second Clannad, because it has the highest rating for any anime I've given this season (9/10)...so far, that is.

yae probably but i seriously have 0 time to sit there and watch through every single anime that comes out.

i work full time + 3 college classes.... life really sucks right now...

im on track with one piece but it surely takes awhile for the eps to come out.

thank you all for ur input, i think im just annoyed at how much bull**** anime that i gotta go through to find a good one. i always look back and i see those epic animes that really made a difference in my life and i cant seem to find anymore nowadays that would live up or exceeed those classics.

This season? That's not saying much at all.

Not at all.
There's pretty much absolutely one ecchi scene.
Though it's not zero, I wouldn't say it counts.

I think all of us Clannad-followers know of which scene I speak of.

I'll support Code Geass and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and though I haven't seen the other two, I hear that Mononoke is quite good.

If you're also watching One Piece, that also might waste a good deal of time that you would otherwise have to spend watching good anime. (burn?)

I would advise you to look at top anime lists, as well. Though they're often very controversial, higher anime are generally better, and oftentimes, anything in the top 20-30 or so will be gold.
In this area, I personally recommend AnimeNewsNetwork's top 50. Though I personally do not like every anime on it that I saw, a good deal of these anime are great series, and several good series that didn't get as much recognition as they deserved also appeared. (Baccano!, Seirei no Moribito, Mononoke, etc.)

The link in my sig goes to the Anime Recommendation Database - using that can be helpful for finding new stuff.

finally someone who has the balls to say excessive nudity was pointless.

Saikano - so good you'll stop working and fail all college classes! but seriously it's not for the faint of heart.
