Quote is correct, it means the April of the previous year and the March of the next year. This means that Ui, like Mio, is at the younger end of her batch. Do note that it is impossible for Yui to be held back since she was with Nodoka throughout her entire school life. It's also impossible for Ui to be three months younger than Yui since, you know, humans have a nine month gestation/pregnancy period.

The Japanese school year starts in April. So yeah, the quote is right. Basically those born in April 1 of a certain year and March 31 of the next year are put in the same batch.

So, since I'm rewriting my fan fiction, a question came to me: Would K-On work as a novel? Not a visual novel. I'm talking about a word-to-word novel with full descriptions of the going-ons of the story, the characters' emotions, and so forth. Other anime series have accomplished a switch to novelization from anime form (Digimon Adventure, for example) and are quite well-written, giving so much more details to questions never answered in the anime.

I personally think a show about the daily lives of highschoolers would work well as a novel.

Yes. Just look at the Young Adult section of the local bookstore. Novels about the times and tribulations of high school students can and do work well. Would K-On! work as a novel? Sure. One could explore many, many things that neither the anime, nor the 4-koma ever explored . . . like the friendship between Mio and Ritsu and how that parlayed into them learning the bass and drums. Or what's really going on in Yui or Mugi's heads. Or, even, showing more of them practicing or going through the process of music composition.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but...

Is K-ON! pronounced like the word "on," or is it pronounced like "own"? I've been saying it with the own sound and I'm not sure if that's right or not.

"on". It's from the word "keiongaku" meaning light music.

Keion as in ke-i-on So yeah, K-"on"

If you're asking for links to "K-On!" then no, as such would break the rules of this forum since the first season is Licensed, though if you're looking for K-On!!"[the second season] then off the sites main page here you can find links to DL the episodes.

On that ANN page, it is shown for the actresses that play the 'classmates' which episodes they appeared in. You can try to match the actresses with the classmates in the episodes that way, e.g. Ichigo is played by Mako, while Tomoko Nakamura played Himeko. But doing this is a huge bother.
