The first episode reminded me of something I've been wondering for a while: why, in Japanese anime/manga, when a guy wants to be forward with a girl, does her push her up against a wall, then slam his hand beside her face?

In the novels it's written as スライマン, which would translate directly to Suleiman/Sulaiman/Sulayman. That's the Arabic form of Solomon, so I guess the BT translator must have rendered it to the version most commonly used in English.

Claire seems to be a typical Louise clone at first, right up until you find out that she's like that because the world used her life as a repository for all its shit. Liike, all of it.

And she gets much better as her friends begin to reflexively wreck everything that tries to hurt her.

Well, to be honest, the anime... will probably not be that great. The first episode was alright, but the story is actually really slow the first three novels - which happens to correspond to what the anime will be. So, if you want to hurry to get the good parts (namely, the actual Blade Dance), knock out those three volumes quickly.

Also, like the others said, Claire mellows out a ton. She's really only violent for no reason in the first volume and after that, it's usually because of our MC's accidental perverted moments, so it's actually understandable. Well, she tends to exaggerate and seriously tries to burn him to death when that does happen, but she is the tsundere of the story, so you shrug your shoulders and go on.

On that note, her desired relationship with Kamito is actually quite funny.
