A futuristic anime with comedy/romance
Looking for a futuristic anime, preferably that has its setting in space, where a good chunk romance and/or comedy is in the plot.
Something like: Vandread Nadesico Macross Frontier Crest of the Stars Gundam SEED Stellvia Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo |

Hmm...well, Eve no Jikan is futuristic, though not set in space, and has a fair share of light-hearted moments. And it does involve some romance, but not explicitly.
A better suggestion might be Planetes. It's set in a near-future space station and does include quit a bit of comedic scenes and a overarching romantic subplot within the broader storyline (and an excellent climax).

Irresponsible Captain Tylor - set in space, a lot of comedy (and very slight romance)

RahXephon might fit for you, due to the aliens and whatnot. Um, Dragonaut could also fit in, these are both "futuristic" animes that have mechas in them. RahXephon is fantastic and is highly psychological and makes many references to other cultures and history.

I'm actually in the midst of watching Eureka Seven. Yes, I'm liking it I have Planetes next on my list, though it seems like a pretty serious story, it seems to be highly recommended. Basquash I've never heard of before, will look into it. RahXephon I've heard it's as psychological and depressing as NGE or something, so I was actually avoiding it. |

The Tenchi Muyo! series and Lost Universe come to mind.
