J.K Rowling Unveils magic school names for North America, Brazil, Japan, and Africa

Link: https://www.pottermore.com/news/ilve...zarding-school

Quote:
  • Brand new writing by J.K. Rowling has revealed more information about the other schools of witchcraft and wizardry, and that the North American magical school’s name is Ilvermorny.
  • Brazilian students at Castelobruxo are particularly adept at Herbology and Magizoology;
  • Japanese witches and wizards at Mahoutokoro wear enchanted robes that change colour as their magical knowledge improves,
  • The only address ever given for Uagadou in Africa is ‘Mountains of the Moon.’
Yes, the Japanese magic school is literally named.... Magic Place.

At least the changing robe colors sounds cool.

I personally would like to see more from the Harry Potter world, hopefully Fantastic Beasts is a nice step into that direction, heck ever simcr I saw the IGN april fools trailer for The Aurors i've been wishing for it to be true.

Man, so many things that can be created just from the canon that Rowling created, the possibilities are endless.

And Africa is a country

Well to be fair, it's "North America" as well.

No other magical nations from Asia asides Japan, I see.

In any case, HP Anime's status is still unknown.

Probably based on the concept of students wearing different color ties/ribbons depending on what year they are that you see a lot in anime.

Given that she probably only made a very shallow research, I'm inclined to believe she's probably had the idea from Karate as well.

Still it's a bit disappointing, had she dug a bit more deeper she'll find a whole slew of culture revolving around magic boys and girls in pop culture

That's usually the problem when most of the main character are boys and men.
