I'm more worried about about this being retread of FLCL only with a female lead after reading the synopsis. If the creators really believe that this universe is worth re-exploring, I'm hoping they come up with something more fresh than that. Otherwise I don't really need any of the other older characters outside may Haruko and Cati to show up.

The first series' original character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto will return to design the characters for the sequel.
Also, more info regarding the music Quote:

Yeah I have my reservations of this one. And like others have pointed out it does seem to be more of a retread and just gender flipping naota, for I guess some potentially yuri viewers. And yes FAM was bad, its not quite Gundam Seed vs Gundam Seed Destingy, but its close to how bad of a sequel to a really good show it was.
Also I don't know how you can possible say Fam has a better story, its a generic war story, it lost all of the unique flavor and mystery of the original. The whole Grand Stream and titular last exile, etc. |

I have close to zero hope for this, and my love for the original is so profound that I don't think I'm even going to watch the sequel unless all the previews significantly change my expectations.

I don't have any particular affection for FLCL (I'm not much of a Gainax fan in general), but what I did like about it mostly came down to Enokido Youji. I don't see his name being attached to this project so... *shrug*
Given the background of the project this sure does seem like part of this weird franchise nostalgia cash-grab thing that has been going on for a while now. Hey, what iconic-in-the-US show can we resurrect that fans will spend money on? Hm, how about FLCL? Awesome idea! |

I don't want to put my expectations so high, but that single clip hyped me as fuck. Man the Pillows... so many memories.
The girl with the cat-headphones, her design is so bland and out of place for FLCL. Also here is the HD trailer: https://twitter.com/PixelMatt64/stat...41801723064320 |

EDIT: Crunchy has some names for the staff behind the show and I see some folks from Flip;Flappers in the list, in particular the Mecha Designer. Considering how creative that show was I'm now a bit more hopeful for this. If we get anywhere near the visual creativity of that show than I'm far more interested in this than I was expecting to be.

Well something interesting just happen. Artist yuumei aka Wenqing Yan whose the creator of the webcomic Fisheye Placebo and designer of the Axent Wear headphones aka the cat ear headphones with speakers in the cat ears, claims the new FLCL anime rip of the design of her headphones without asking or crediting her.
