Shirou looks weird. What's up with that hair? He looks a bit too young too.

Sigh... not again... I was hoping this wouldn't become a trend.

Yeah, really hoping it's like Date a Live or Red Data Girl and not like Ebiten or Seitokai no Ichizon. I don't mind having to avoid spoilers (despite having read the manga) for a few days or 2 weeks or whatever, but I don't want to have to wait an entire season. That killed all momentum and hype for Seitokai no Ichizon Lv2 for me.

Eh? Red Data Girl is exactly what it shouldn't be like, because that's one of the ones that's airing the entire season ahead of schedule. It's even worse for Date a Live, because it's more generic, making it more dependent on the pretty pictures to make up for the rest of it. When the first thing people find for it are these low-quality, ugly-looking episodes, they wonder "why should I even bother watching this?"

Bleh. BLEH, I say! Pre-airs are ruining anime!

You can do things that way, if you want to. It will work. You'll miss out on a lot of references, though. While this series has its own, entirely functional plot, it was created as a parody series, so it is built around a massive number of shout-outs and references to the rest of the Fate universe.

Wh...what? As far as I've seen, and maybe this is just not being 100% informed (though if it is the case, then the fansubbers are being weird), Red Data Girl seems to have niconico subs about 2 episodes ahead of the TV airs (like, I believe episode 6 of that is out now, while the TV airs are up to episode 4). And Date a Live has the niconico subs out sometime around Monday, while the TV subs come out around later that week on Saturday.

Not even sure where you're going with the whole "pretty pictures" thing.

Well, considering this trailer alone already tossed in a Saber Lily cameo/reference, it's obvious there will be.

That's not Saber Lily, but Magical Warrior Musashi. Illya's favorite magical girl in this manga. Illya is mahou shoujo otaku.

Pre-airs are low-quality. In the case of a series like Date A Live where the quality of the visual effects are a significant part of the show, pre-airs are actually harming peoples' impressions of it, because not only do they find it a generic rom-com series, it doesn't even look particularly good (because they're watching a crappy-quality version of it, but they don't realize that).

As for me, I won't watch them. I want to see these series the way they are meant to be seen. I want them to look the way they are meant to look. My first impression of them should be the first impression they are meant to give, not one that's been ruined because people don't know how to wait to watch them when they actually come out.

Considering just the manga this is bases on, cameos will be the least amount of crazy in this show.

No, it just looks like her. Somewhat, anyway. This is a parody series, as I said, but it has it's own functional story. While the character in question was undoubtedly designed visually to make people think of Archerko, she came to exist in an entirely different fashion and has her own unique personality.

I don't know if the anime will even get to her. In a 1-cour series, it may be wiser for them to just stick to Prisma Illya, without getting into 2wei or 3rei.

The first season of Prisma Illya is only 13 chapters long though. They'll have to add some anime original slice of life scenes if they want to last a whole cour.

That should be easy enough given the setting. Atmosphere is fairly light as well allowing for ease of filling those in.

That's probably what they'll do. There's enough space in most chapters that they can fluff fights, slice of life, etc. Zwei is 24 or so chapters, so there's no way they'd be able to do 36+ chapters in one cour. It basically has to end at the end of the first series.

That is probably the reason why screenplay is written by author of C³ and supervised by author of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu.

I don't know how good this will be for you if you go into it not knowing anything about Fate/ or the Nasuverse. The whole thing is basically Cardcaptor Sakura x Nanoha crammed into the Nasuverse, with amazing results. And loli fanservice. Lots of loli fanservice.

And I thought they were going to get Shin Oonuma to direct this, what the hell Silver Link?

I personally think that if they follow the manga so it will be well good even for people unfamiliar with Nasuverse. Although they lose number of references but there will still be plenty of humor, action and fanservise for them. And story should be understandable even without knowledge of Nasuverse. At least in original manga is.

Shin will direct. Just Takashi Sakamoto will be Chief Director and Shin will be under him. At Shin's direction this not change anything. Basically, we can expect a similar style direction like in Dusk Maiden of Amnesia where both had exactly the same position.

I've been in the anime fandom long enough to have at least a vague idea of this universe. It looks like enough of a self-contained work that I can appreciate it on those merits. And maybe check out the other series later if I feel inclined. Plus, the point of view of someone going in largely blind could serve as a useful contrast.
