I might be missing a few things when I watched this series but I do have a question:
Did any of the nations ever started a space program? With Britannia holding the top dog rank in technology, I wonder if anyone ever thought of space travel or creating ships or satellites to scan or glass enemy territories from beyond the atmosphere.

Granted, glassing enemy territories would be kind of stupid, as the Emperor's raiding them solely for the Thought Elevators.

Actually, I've always assumed that they had similar satelitte systems to ours. I mean, their communication networks are complex enough to pretty much require sattelitte transmissions. I seriously doubt that there are any orbital weapons platforms or such though.
(Note as to why satellites are required: They seem to have over the horizon transmissions to and from their airships, this can only be accomplished via satellites.) |

So they might have satellites already. I guess it's a start before creating other things that could lead to an orbital platform.
So, uh, no major power is interested in claiming Antarctica, despite its untapped resources?

Whay about the E.U. then? They're a siperpower and that didn't stop Britannia stomping on them. Or going to war with the UFN. |

Well, the E.U. was faring well against them...until Suzaku showed up. They were only unlucky in that they had no world-renowned scientists on their side like Lloyd or Rakshata, or an elite unit like the Rounds.
So much for that 'top-class' general who was meant to be checking the Brits and their advance into northern Africa as well... |
