There is no info of Yuki Kajiura signing up ClariS for BGM vocals. As was said above, the track in question is most likely sung by Eri Itoh (you can also hear her in Tsubasa Chronicle, Xenosaga 3 and Pandora Hearts). And yes, her singing manner contains/evokes LOTS of sentimentality.

Itoh Eri is extraordinary, beautiful, haunting. I so love her live version of "You are my Love;" Youtube has unfortunately had to take it down...I'm delighted beyond words to find that she is the person singing these songs.

In the absence of the original song this rendition seems to be THE hit among Madoka fans.

They even made an Osu! beatmap for it, called "Theme of Puella Magi" XDDD
(the original, btw, is suspected to go by the name "Sis Puella Magica!" Notice the correct translation of "magical girl" - since they apparently know it, it's all the more hinting that the show's title was not a glitch and meant... literally what it meant

).

^ Now those are some amazing recreations of Madoka's BGM.
I was particularly blown away by Magia (to me it sounded like the kind of epic music you would hear when you face the final boss in a rpg lol), the orchestra version of Connect, and the BGM that starts at 19:12.

Great stuff.

I have to agree, that's a lot of really great recreations of music from the series, it makes me want the BGM/OST for the series to be released already so bad xD.
