Personally after seeing the first episode I think this is the weakest show of the ones I've seen from this season(hanbun, kasimasi, magikano and fate/stay night). I'll give it a few more episodes but at the moment I'm feeling the same way about it as I did with Amaenaideyo after a few episodes. Who knows it may improve after a couple of episodes? I'll definitely give it a chance as I don't like to stop watching anime after a poor first episode. I can think of a number of examples of shows that have improved a lot after the first few eps.
I think a lot of it has to do with the "unlocking stories" scenes. Now I don't normally mind fanservice but those scenes made for uncomfortable viewing for me, cringeworthy even. Those definitely affected my thoughts on the first episode as apart from that the show didn't do much wrong(but also not much right either), I suppose unspectacular would be a fitting word for what I thought of the first ep minus those hentai-lite scenes. Normally I don't seem to "see" these things as in for example people saying one or two scenes in some recent episodes of SnS as "bordering on tentacle porn/rape", but these scenes were a lot more obvious. Less of that kind of stuff and I'll be happier. As I said before nothing wrong with fanservice as long as I don't feel uncomfortable watching it(Nanoha transformation scenes in MSLN are another example of "uncomfortable viewing" scenes). |

IMO, yes, in a lot of areas, Kagihime does seem to be really lacking compared to the other shows this season.
But for me, I find myself enjoying it though, mainly because of the setting and the BGM(one of the best I've heard recently). I also kinda like seeing the character interactions, eg. Kiraha vs Arisu and Kiraha's yuri stalker. Well, I guess this show is just better enjoyed without giving much thought towards it. We've already have Otome to debate on .

I think this is an interesting series. I have to admit that I had my doubt before I watch this show, I looked up the screenshots and it looks just so so compared to other new series this season (my first impression it was targeted for younger audience.) ^^;;
Well I watched it, and surprisingly I like it alot. Specially the atmosphere. From the begining when the book opened, the european fairy tale city, classy clothing design, to the almost constant background musics, as if you entered an entirely different world. The animation was nothing top notch, but the world design is quite well done, specially the music scores (I love the battle music.) ^^ I felt great similiarity with Princess Tutu too, since they both strongly evolved around fairy tales. But I can see them heading to a different direction already. Another series that felt strangely similiar with is Utena. Maybe it's the yuri, maybe it's the sword fight, maybe how they always try to poke each other hearts. They didn't wear a rose signet ring tho. ^^;; |

I'm just a bit off with the lack of consistence in the animation alternating between close-up and faraway shots of the characters.
Anyways the soundtrack grows in me with each passing episode. For the third episode....... Spoiler:
If Kirigara moved next door to Art's then that means Arisu will also do the same. |

Ok their's a word that is used in this anime that I have not been able to figure out the romaji spelling for and the exact meaning. Before Kirihara Aruto enters the School Research Lab he says a word that means excuse me.. but I've heard it in other aspects too.. Does this word have many meanings? And how is this word spelled?

Episode 3....THe scene where they dragged Aruto was a little repetitive and irritating, but other than that, everything else seemed to be progressing along fine. Basically, the main idea of this episode is to explain how and why Aruto can make his way into Wonder Space. I see some interesting development already.
Furthermore, they don't seem to show the librarian and the bespectacled guy at the end so much....What is so special about them? Why do we see them for such a short while at the end of two episodes? There's much to develop and focus on rather than just the fanservice. Sure, it does make people uncomfortable, but I still think the main attraction of the show for me is how the story can and will develop. |

Episode 3 was so~so. The main point was the fact that Aruto can copy the Endless Alice and that the copies can grant wishes too. I'm surprise none of them cared and that such a potential surprise was revealed this early. There are alot of potential drama involving that type of power that may or may not be executed later.
Oh well, next episode atleast will be featuring one of the more interesting looking Alice users from the ED, hopefully she will be a permanent character instead of appearing for only one episode. |

The guy with glasses is referred to as 'Takion' - he's the one who apparently wrote the Alice novels in Kagihime, so him being there and saying at the end of episode 2 that he'll finally be able to get his hands on the Eternal Alice is rather foreshadowing... and somewhat curious. On a side note... Alternate L Takion. What a name ^^. As to Liddell - in 'real life' one of Lewis Carroll's friends was a child named Alice Liddell, and he told a story to her (on a boat trip, iirc) which he named 'Alice's Adventures Underground.' He even hand wrote and illustrated a copy for her - and it was this manuscript that MacMillan published under the name 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.' As such, the character Liddell here is a reference to the 'real Alice' of Lewis Carroll. As to her actual existence here? Possibly something fun and symbolic referring to Takion as the 'creator' of these Alice stories, being somehow linked with the real Alice, etc. I'm sure it'll be at least somewhat interesting -Andiyar

Episode 4 Summary and Screencaps.
Not a very good episode, IMO. A bit too messy with all the jargon. My Japanese still needs improvement.

Lewis Carroll vs. Hans Christian Andersen. I never saw this coming. Long story short- An Andersen stories fan girl becomes Carroll's slave^h^h^h^h^h Alice. She then procedes to burn all the Carroll's book and it is up to our hero(s) to stop her. They mentioned that there maybe an "Andersen" battle going on and how the girl wandered into Alice game by accident...This opens up a new possible plotline.... Lewis Carroll vs. Hans Christian Andersen vs Jacob Wilhelm et Grimm vs Charles Perrault? XD

Episode 4 opened up a whole bunch of new questions.. But a burning one is the Andersen angle.. The twin girls said that Takion hates Andersen and that is suppose to be a secret. Hmm.. Why would Takion hate Andersen so much?
Also if he wrote the book he wouldn't need to read it so it seems to me that he didn't write the Endless Alice especially since it's based on the storys of lifehood experiences of the girls themselves. Girls that were probably affected in some way or another from the other two Alice Novels. It would also explain the name the Endless Alice until Aruto became a part of the puzzle it would of been endless.. Alice user captures part of story from one girl and takes it.. now someone elses captures it from that girl.. the chain would continue endlessly because the chances of one taking all the others and never losing a single battle is very slim. But now Aruto is in the picture and he is able to copy the story.. no longer needing to take the story.. so eventually the story could be finished. |
