The old trailer has the exiled Japanese being called "Gaijin" by Europeans. A bit of a self depreciating humour and to make a point about Japan's real discrimination issues.

Spoiler for summ:

- Boukoku no Akito takes place between the first season of Code Geass and R2. While the TV series focused on the battle in Japan, Akito is the battle in Europe.
- Akito has been geass'd. We don't know what he was ordered or by whom he was geass'd by, but it activates while he's in battle.
- In the battle in the opening scene, a company made up of 11s takes out the opposition by self-detonating. Reira chastises the commander guy for making them do that. In the end, Akito is the only survivor. Reira is obviously sympathetic to 11s since she calls them "Japanese" instead of 11s.
- A group of terrorist 11s (there are 3) attempts to kidnap a high-ranking official that Reira is accompanying. Akito is able to get them under control and when Reira asks them what their goal is, the leader guy Ryou says that they want a place to belong to. Reira tells them to join her company and she'll create a place for them.
- A guy named Shin who is most likely Akito's elder brother since he shares the Hyuuga name has a Geass. He looks to be royalty and is somewhat like Lelouch in that he geasses his "brother" (not blood related; I think Shin was adopted by high ranking officials) into killing himself. Another rebellion anyone?
- At the end, Reira spots Akito stacking some rocks. Akito explains that he's fulfilling a promise. The 11s from the battle the beginning had promised each other that the survivors would create a grave for the fallen, and since Akito was the lone survivor, he was the one making it. Spirits of the 11s who died in battle ask Akito what he is living for since he has no family or country to protect. Akito replies with, "to die." Reira asks him if she offended him or something because he suddenly became quiet. Akito says that he was just talking to those who died, and that he once died.

The movie? episode? ends there.

Sakamoto Maaya and the producer Kawaguchi told us to pay attention to the end illustrations during the credits. There were several illustrations and some of them give hints at Reira's past. They were probably referring to the one illustration of Reira standing in a lake with.. *dun dun dun dun* C.C.! My guess is that Reira might have a Geass. Her eyes kinda sparkled in one scene, but it wasn't very clear.

After the credits was a preview for the second chapter. OMG OMG OMG.

SUZAKU!!!!!!!!!!!!! C.C. too!

Um, yeah. Suzaku was shown standing on a moving train looking out the window. C.C. is in a hooded outfit and takes off the hood to reveal who she is.

Nice analogy but knightmare frame wise. Suzaku wins and how did Akito manage to live out the die geass... pretty interesting.

Yes, Suzaku will appear on the second chapter! I love him the most in Code Geass. I'm going to guess that this will be his first assignment in Europe or it has something to do with Lelouch, if C.C. is also there.

Welp, I'm pretty excited for this one, especially for Miyu Irino's performance as the main character as a soldier. It's such a long time I heard him using his serious voice. And the storyline is good too, hopefully they will build on more about EU in the Code Geass world.

Well, I stand corrected on the CG Mecha style. They managed to pull off the fights pretty well, Akito reminds me a lot of when Kallen was fighting in her older Gurren that couldn't fly with all the athletisism they're putting their Knightmares through.

Here's my translation of the second Akito Worldview Column:

Column 2: “The European Union and the W-0 Unit”

The government of the European Union (EU) is exhibiting signs of decadent democratic principles, and the elected members of the Council of Forty have become very sensitive to their election results and have become unable to choose policies that will invite the rebellion of the citizens. Therefore, the postponement of problems and bureaucracy has become rampant in the EU.

And the most extreme of these public-ingratiating policies is the establishment of the secret unit “W-0”.

The war with the Holy Britannian Empire, which had started several years earlier, seemed to be prolonging, and the EU army couldn’t manage a decisive counterattack against the Euro Britannians, who are steadily attacking from Asia, and so their territory is steadily being reduced.

In order to stop the spread of war-weary looks due to the prolongation of the war and the increase in dead among the citizens, the EU government thought of using the Elevens (Japanese) who are gathered in the ghettos of “Île de la Cité” in the war. After Area 11 was annexed into the Holy Britannian Empire, the non-Japanese within the EU started to treat the Elevens in the EU as hostile foreigners.

With the condition that they would be given some freedom if they displayed distinguished service in the war, candidates from among the young generation of Elevens within the ghettos were recruited. And so the W-0 Unit was founded.

The W-0 are sent out to front lines where the loss rate of soldiers is high and their duty is to go into the jaws of death so that the EU army’s regular soldiers can return home alive. In other words, the EU government is effectively saying “please die in place of EU citizens”. The W-0 unit’s first substantial campaign is the rescue operation of the EU army’s 132nd Regiment who failed in the St. Petersburg rescue and are surrounded by the Britannian army in Narva.

But in the capital city of Paris, the battle of these people who fight at their utmost limits isn’t known. The government VIPS and the wealthy people only pursue immediate prosperity and peace.

Note: The “Île de la Cité” is an actual island in Paris. (It took me a while to figure out the translation.)
