I would like to see some of the ps2/ manga arcs animated. It'd be great so see Natsumi animated~ I wouldn't really want it to be another 24-26 episode serires again, though. xD; Possibly 13? :3

Considering 26 wasn't long enough for the first six arcs, I don't think 13 episodes is such a good idea.

I think Christmas came early for me this year. Its a fantastic surprise for me. I do wonder about where they're gonna get material, though.

Is it just me, or is my cynicism just acting up again, that I'm thinking they'll just franchise it and in five years we'll have another cash cow like Evangelion?

By the way, when I was in Japan I never really thought Hirgurashi was that popular.
I knew it had a big fan following, but big enough for a live action movie and ANOTHER season? o.o

The PC games sold 500,000 combined.

PS2 Matsuri sold 100,000.

It's pretty popular..

Don't forget it also has drama CDs, manga, and a novel series.

Season...3? Holy surprise of the year, Batman! D:

This could break or make the series though. However, I'm glad it's not the end of Higurashi! This is REALLY exciting!

I sort of have mixed feelings about this third season. I mean, as much as I like Higurashi and everything, I don't see what more can they show us after Matsuribayashi-hen. Wouldn't doing the manga arcs be somewhat anti-climatic? We know how it ends already, then we go back and see more reruns of Rika's life and what would've happened if the village was killed? I don't really like that idea.

If it is going to be short, like a 12 episode season or something like that, and we see more from the pieces (like Hanyuu's past), and Saikoroshi-hen, then I'd definitely be interested.

Oh WOW this just made my day.

Here's to hoping Natsumi'll be in it - and maybe the so called "true end" arc from the PS2. *__*

Well that IS basically what two of the PS2-only arcs were to the games, right?

Unless it's Miotsukushi-hen, I really don't want it. =/ As much as I love Higurashi, it needs to end...

Hmm. Interesting, but there's is the question of which arcs they'll do. "Dice Killing" is pretty much a given I'm sure, seeing how it basically follows Matsuribayashi-hen.

It does kinda seem like overkill now. Maybe just a 13 episode series of the real ending or possibly the arc(s) with Natsumi?

I'd have much more wanted a Umineko anime... NEEDS MOAR HANYUU.

Hmm... well it would have sense if they are maknig Miotsukushi and Saikoroshi, however as much as I would see Natsumi chan animated I don't see how they will manage not to break continuity

Well I think they found a great seiyuu for Natsumi already (see: Higurashi Daybreak). I think Season 3 should just comprise of Onisarashi-hen, Saikoroshi-hen, and Miotsukushi-hen but not in that particular order.

Yeah indeed, hence why I am looking forward to seeing her animated since they already got Kaori Mizuhashi (of kiminozo: Suzumiya Akane, and the trap in Nanoha: yuuno scrya fame) to do the voice
