I'd look on DeviantArt for visual styles before themexp. Some of the styles on themexp are bundled with spyware.

Notice the absense of any kind of winamp windows - Iīve turned into a foobar fan ... itīs lightweight, works like a charm, feature-packed, and I like the no-nonsense interface. See screenshot

In case you wonder about the high reso - the 21" monitor is heavy, but it gives a big, sharp image.
And I like how my desktop looks good even when I save it as a smallish .gif. Minimal = win ;P
That looks a lot like fluxbox (if I remember correctly) for Linux...

Heres mine, i like it the background because the motive is twisted. Zim is doing tests to see which human he should pick as his new best friend, first test was absorbency with milk, second was conductivity, and this is third, it sounded painful when the screen panned to the clock.

Spoiler:

Its the same as my avvy, but i thought most people wouldnt be seeing my desktop.

Ummm... I have a little question for everyone... I've recently started tinkering around with my new laptop, and it's an unusual 15.4 in widescreen. I'm currently running it in 1280 x 800 pixels, which is quite awkward when it comes to backgrounds and startup screens. Can anyone give me any suggestions on ways to make them look more natural? I've photoshopped the simpler backgrounds by adding extra image along the sides of standard 1024 x 768 wallpapers. Any other ideas? Any help would be appreciated ^^

And to make sure I'm not entirely off topic, here's my new bg (on my desktop, not laptop)

Don't tell them that!! If everyone figures out how good it is, then they'll all want to use imagehost! If everyone uses imagehost the bandwidth use will slow down the entire system and it won't be as good anymore!

Shhhhhhh! Don't blow the secret!

Hrmm... i have used WindowBlinds and StyleXP in the past. I like both of them for different reason... but the funny thing is, i never stick with the skin that i chose for too long. I always go back to the normal XP look.. just because i like it. Its clean and simple... i don't want anything too fancy. People probably disagree with me on the XP look being cool... but i like it.

Anyways, heres my current wallpaper. I made it myself, and it sort of has a Half-life 2 theme with a Megatokyo character. I thought it was pretty cool

Spoiler:

Also, just a note, i scaled my image, my resolution is 1024x768.
