Clannad - Spoilers & Speculation (for experienced Clannad gamers only)

They could always throw in someone else's arc in there...say the Kyou/Ryou or Kappei arc post WHAM...while not in the School Life times at all, would it fit...post-WHAM?

Kyou/Ryou is almost completely dependent on School Life... although a great story in and of itself (THIS is how you do a love triangle!) I don't see it working post-WHAM, since Tomoya is still deeply in love with Nagisa.

Kappei I can see them doing along with the Sanae/Akio arcs, given that he's not really dependent on the school at all.

Well, this is KyoAni. They've have changed things in the past to make it fit. Usually not major things related to plot, but just ways to get distant parts of the plot to flow. (FMP's twins for example)

At this rate they will be two lights short at the end.

The twins "change" was done upon the very author's request, Gatou Shoji himself. The rest of the changes was one in order to fix what Gonzo screwed for the continuity in season 1.

Not really. It could be that Kyou and Ryou's could have been from when they realize each other's feelings. It would make the most sense up to this point, since only an OVA could explain the real versions. Knowing Kyo-ani they should have Kappei some place. They may meet him latter on and then with the few years gap Tomoya could see him again and will see nurse Ryou ^-^

This does not seem to answer one of our big three questions this season... the Kappei problem. Personally I think he's just REALLY dumb and going on and on on Confucius [China subs] or some random thing, and nothing important in particular about him. Still, a major plot point. "So when will he appear?" is a big question right now.

No, if they've spent the time and effort to animate 48 episodes for a Key series, they'll give us the full treatment and not the 2 hours version we already have. I'm just suggesting that they will find a way to make it fit, or just make it fit would an arc or two.

Still hoping to see a drunk Sanae and Nagisa together.

It could be that the actual number needed is never really set for this show; they will just refer to them as the means that allows it to happen. It would save a lot of explaining why there was a required amount.

Explains enough, but not the number. Maybe, it means something in Irish mythology, because in Clannad there are enough interesting things from it. Even some song names like "Mag Mell", album "Mabinogi" and so on.

Ep 14 - New Family
Tomoya and Nagisa, after getting married, started to live together. Nagisa, wanting to lighten Tomoya's burden by even a little, started to work as a waitress.

Ep 22 - To the Remains of Summer
Nagisa has been identified to be pregnant. Tomoya and her parents are joyous, but even though they have taken care of Nagisa, who naturally has a weak body, Nagisa fell.

I guess episode 14 is where we find out that Tomoya knocks her up, episode 15 about their preparations for Ushio's birth and the complications she's going to have, and finally 16 where she buys the farm in Tomoya's arms.

Let's just hope to god KyotoAni handles her death scene properly.

I personally hope they don't do the other-world scene there... to me, it lessened a lot of the impact of her death because I was confused as to whether or not it meant she had survived.

"New Family" suggests a wedding...or at least Tomoya's acceptance of Nagisa's family as his own.

White Darkness (to me) suggests New Years (or winter), but then "remains of summer? (autumn?)" "White Darkness" (winter?) followed by "Summer Time" doesn't make sense without a time jump or two. Could be minor since they arn't following school life, but more important events by this point I would assume.
