No, the series is set for 37 episodes.

That piece of information was release while the first/second episode aired.

Seriously, this has gone rumor (made up?)->fact. It started as a rumor and somehow became fact. Nobody is able to link to an official source that states it is actually 37. There is a note on syoboi which says it is "planned for 3 kuru/37 episodes" which probably originated from some "insider". (Note: syoboi has had mistakes many times.)

Again, link to official source? (I already know there is none, I played this game back in october. Nobody can say where it was released which means it originated on 2ch most likely.)

I believe it came from Newtype, though i'm not to sure about that. Anyway, i believe that this show is going to be 37 episodes in total. The news is everywhere, so it must have came from a official source.

These are a couple of amateur questions and I know they were answered on page one but I want o ask now that we have eclipsed the half way point of the series.

1.) How closely has the anime been following the manga?
2.) Does it seem that the anime will cover all of the manga or can we expect them to pull an FMA on us?

Question:
In the anime,Light looked already kinda 'evil' at the beginning. In the manga,Light had a 'cute and innocent' face and after that he got his 'evil face',I always wondered why they didn't keep his 'cute' face in the anime, instead of giving him the 'evil' face from the start.
XD I hope anyone understands my rambling..

lulz btw,here i have a collage-thing of Light's cute faces <33
(for the non manga readers..no spoilers so dun worry,it's all from chapter 1)

Q:Those newspapers and TV stations that are regularly giving out criminals - do they have some real-life prototypes?

it would be ddificult to know, as most of them would appear on Japanese tv and most of us don't have access to such thing. Personally i think it's probable that some criminals are based on reality; however, not all of them.

Answer:
in HTR: 13 Takeshi Obata says that girl is only kira's suporter... she's nothing to do with Light.

i have a question too and this may sound stupid but..

you know the death note that mikami currently has, who previously owned it? was it misa or light's? (i remember light buried his death note in episode 16 or 17)

The anime is rather faithful to the manga. Before the M/N saga, the anime included more details from the manga. After that, they've pretty much cut away some of the more detailed thoughts and dialogues of the characters, probably to shorten the series since it was a little boring compared to the earlier portions of the manga. They also made minor tweaks to the story but not affecting it in any major ways I'd say.

And yes I think the anime will cover the whole manga. I think they will start including more details for the last few episodes since there is only slightly more than one volume worth of materials left.

I'm sorry, but I just can't resist making a response to your rather uninformed skepticism, even though it's made two months ago.

Here is the official source you so desire.

http://www.ntv.co.jp/english/pc/ntv-animation.pdf

No offense intended, but I'm afraid you're way outdated. Thirty-bloody-seven episodes announced WAY BACK in November.

Everybody knows it's 37 episodes, even the wikipedia entry says it's 37 episodes for MONTHS without anyone questioning that fact, so it's more or less authentic. If it's spread from a rumour, there would have been variable numbers surrounding the three-kur season rather than a definite number of 37.

Once again, I'm very sorry for "picking a fight", for lack of a better phrase, but I just feel like your statement requires a correction.
