Well the obvious answer to who the eye patch person is would be Cinque, but that's a bit too obvious. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess it's actually Vice's little sister Laguna! She has eye trouble, and could pick up marksmanship skills from her brother. Either her, or Freid's presence suggests it could be Erio and Caro's daughter.

Heh, I kinda foresaw what people may guess, but we'll find out which is correct next chapter. Thanks for the corrections, as always! I've uploaded a fixed version to ff.net, though I almost feel this was one of my sloppier chapters....

And yes, there will be shades of S1, and we'll see a few new interesting tricks Fate has learned...

Glad people caught on to Mariel. I've got a few other clues linked to her, that foreshadow some interesting developments.^^

I'd never heard of that, but it sounds like fun.

I liked the fluffier bits, but I think my favorites were numbers 8 and 10. Call me morbid if you want, but watching the approaching train wreck is fascinating in its own way. As for 10, the idea that there's still that bond even after so much and and so long is heartwarming, especially since its clearly an everyday thing, not a once a year duty.

Due: You remind me of Tre, she was always "Huuurrrr, you need to be more serious" all the time while frowning. You know that she's a frowny face? She's going to end up with wrinkles if she's not careful and then how will she get anyone to want to look at her? Puppy!

Sette: Oh, thank you. Tre was an excellent commander, skilled in field tactics while also capable of managing the battle on a strategic level. I someday hope to surpass her scores in aerial combat simulation program 002-20.

Due: *nods* Tre was smart when she fought, but then she could be really stupid too. Did you know that her first mission had her exploding a cake factory? And I mean there was cake EVERYWHERE! There was chocolate sauce over the cherries, and that was good, but the chocolate sauce over the cherries in the teriyaki sauce was bad. Did you know that Linseed Oil is poisonous? I know, cuz I used it to cook once when I was under cover and I made this mean person get sick and then he fell over dead and Where did the puppy go?

Sette: ... I question both the purpose and validity of this anecdote. For now, I will assume that the cake factory in question was providing aid and comfort to the enemy and its destruction was a mission objective you were not privy to.

Did the recipe call for Linseed Oil? If not, you should not have used it. I often follow recipes, and the resulting pancakes are possibly excellent and have not to date caused any fatalities.

Commencing Operation: 'Puppy Hunt'. We shall begin combing the blocks in a grid pattern, checking off each 'square' as we determine it's current population of stray dogs...

Due: I'm not sure... I think that the Doctor just wanted us to, in his words, screw with people. But why screw with people if you don't use screws? It's really hard to screw someone unless you use screws and a power drill to drive them through the hands. I mean, how can you screw with someone like that? And, no, it didn't, but I was told to poison the guy, so, I did and it was really smelly and messy when it was done. You can make pancakes?! Oooh! I want one! Hey, did you know that that restaurant throws out lots of pancakes? They're always so hard and black and one time, it had these blue things on them that were sweet! But it was crunchy, and then I didn't feel good for a day. Did you know that water from the ocean is salty?

Sette: I propose we form a subcommittee to vote on the members of a committee to investigate the ocean for the purposes of proving or disproving your claims. If time remains following the investigation's closure, we will attempt to determine a use for the excess screws.

If you desire a pancake, I believe the original model is still available in the kitchen. For some reason it does not appear to bio-degrade to any meaningful degree no matter how much time passes. I believe this is a sign it is high in fiber.

Due: *Blinks* Why would we want a subcommittee to vote on a committee? It's because of things like that are the reasons why I killed those brains. The fluids were nasty! Why did I lick my claws? That was yucky! And pancakes?! I hope that it's better than that one I found in the garbage by the one lady's house. She's always so mean, throwing kitties at me and PUPPY! I see the puppy!

I am fairly certain it is better than a garbage pancake, because it is not in the garbage. It has been thrown in the garbage, but somehow continues to get out. This possibly indicates it has been fortified with vitamins. Oh, puppy. Hello, puppy.

Due: I shall have to try your pancake then! Puppy! here puppy! I won't oww! It bit me! Grrr! Come here so I can bite your tail off, you stupid dog! ...WAAAAHHHH!! My hand's all bloody now!

... ... ... I have no first aid skills. My options to prevent an infection are to fly you to a medical facility, or start a fire and cauterize the wound. Which would you prefer?

Due: Fire hurts... I know, I started one once by accident and then I touched it and it burned and I think my arm still has some burn mark on it or something, cuz I had to run and... Ugh... I feel icky...

Sette: Medical facility it is, then. The Saint Church has facilities for dealing with Cyborg medical needs, and I believe our sisters should be present to oversee the treatment. I will have to leave you in their care while I re-commence my efforts to euthanize that dangerous animal.

Due: Okay... *Whimpers* Just come back, please? *Grabs Sette's shirt* Please? You're nice.

[Master, your forces are ready] Kris called

“Good!” the blond bolted upright and stormed out the door. “All forces prepare for attack!” she commanded “I wont let Shutra suffer any longer at the hands of the Dominion!”

“What the-?! Vivio!” A dominion soldier shouted as a small attack squad broke through the side entrance “Sound the alarm!”

“Oh no you don't” she stated as she fired a energy orb towards the soldier, knocking him out. She fired several other projectiles, effectively mowing down all the enemy units in her path. She rushed forward and charged her energy into a strike and destroyed the outer door

“Commander” one of Vivio's sergeants spoke up “Its strange...but radar indicates that aside from this outer sector this place is abandoned.”

“Thats odd..” she stated “Where is everyone?” she looked around “Stay sharp boys...this could be a trap”

With military precision they switched their formation and and moved as one unit through the empty halls and corridors. Tension rose as they were met with absolutely no resistance.

“I don't like this one bit” Vivio spoke in general “There aren't any civilians either. Where the hell is everyone?”

[Master, I've intercepted a transmission coming from an area nearby. It is stating that the Dominion is planning on moving personnel from this sector over to labor camps]

“What?!” She almost screamed “All units move!” she ordered.

“There they are!” one of the scout units stated as the rest of the team caught up “Commander, its as you said. The civilians are being loaded on to a ship for transport. I don't know where they-”

“Argggh!!!”

“What the hell was that?!” the commander ran up the hill a little bit and looked over towards the valley “They're shooting Civilians! Move in!”

The small band of soldiers charged from their position. Ground and air forces broke formation almost immediately and started engaging the Dominion soldiers

“This is patrol team 71219 requesting immediate back up!” a dominion soldier got on the radio “We are under attack by Vivio's Valkyries-need immediate support!”

“Divine...Buster!!”

A large mass of energy gathered and shot forth and destroyed the radio tower. Unfortunately, it was a little too late. The soldiers from the barracks began to pour out as the alarm was activated

“Shit...” she cursed “Valkyries!” she spoke over the comm “spread out and take them out from all directions! Lets make them remember our name!”

“Hey its Vivio's men!” One of the rescued civilians called out, rallying the others “We're with ya, Valkyries!” they called out and started engaging the dominion forces with rocks, branches, enemy devices, and whatever else they could get their hands on

“Ok, start pushing in towards the main center” the Christmas-eyed girl commanded “Once we take that out, we'll have control of this sector” She looked to the skies and saw the inbound aerial mages. “All ground forces proceed to point Delta 5. We also have incoming air from the west!”

“Roger”

“Vivio-san!” Another voice came through the lines

“What is it, Subaru?” she called as she continued to dodge enemy beams while firing her own

“I've reached the central command post and the charges are set” the girl stated “Ready to take this place down”

“All right” she smiled at the monitor “Blow it!” she ordered

“Roger!”

“Valkyries! Grab the civilians and GET OUT!” she broadcasted to all her forces while setting up a wall of energy orbs. “Explode!” she commanded as the pink orbs detonated into individual flares, effectively blinding the enemy as they made their escape

“T minus 7 secs” Subaru called as she and her team ran for their lives as far away from the blast zone as they could “Roku...go...yon...san...ni...ichi!”

The command center ignited and was soon turned into a giant ball of fire. Secondary explosions rang throughout the area killing the remaining defenders as they tried to flee. The attackers, as well as the rescued civilians, began to cheer from their viewpoint in the hills nearby

“Thats another victory for us...” Subaru stated and held a thumbs-up

“You all did well today” Vivio patted her crew “This is only the beginning...”

Sorry for the long delay between posts, but Daily Activity Logs, Jan. 7, Family is now on Fanfiction.net ^^.

I've made some edits in the chapter, to fix some grammar stuff and to make certain scenes flow smoother .

Doctor Miura’s fingers danced across a keyboard as he continued plugging away inside his dimly lit office. It was approaching 4 AM. In all honesty, his work day should have wrapped up 10 hours ago.

But he couldn’t leave the office with this work unfinished. Not when the brass was pressing on him to give up on his patient and surrender her over to the Extreme Risk Covert Ops group. After all, she had the ideal mindset for one of their soldiers. No emotions and no fear. Just the thing needed when going into potentially hostile systems and planets to retrieve Lost Logia.

He had been working with her for almost five years and had to admit that she had been one of his most challenging cases. The first step had been to repair whatever alterations had been made to his patient’s frontal lobe. He was loathe to admit that whoever did that in the first place knew what they were doing. Almost all of her higher cognitive functions were left intact. The treatment just to restore the frontal lobe to normal (or as close to normal as it could get for someone like her since she was a Combat Cyborg and not a normal human) took all of the first two years.

Then it was straight to trying to help her develop these new feelings but she really didn’t understand it at first. It wasn’t until the fourth year that he started making some progress. It was also at the same time that the brass took notice of this case as they had quite their hands full on recovery operations after the JS incident and the Mariage incident.

Miura had to push a lot of paperwork around in an attempt to protect his patient’s rights. But time was running out. The Bureau’s case to have her moved from his care to the Extreme Risk group was airtight and if his division‘s legal counsel was going to put up a fight, they needed all the proper documents and papers to build a case to justify keeping her in here for treatment. Unfortunately, they had fallen being on putting together the background profile for the lawyers and this was why Miura had to stay behind so that it was there for their legal counsel to review when they arrive at work.

‘Finally!’ One last save, a quick message attachment and the file was sent over. Miura let out a loud yawn before shutting down his workstation and packing up his briefcase. He would probably need to push some early morning business back but it wasn’t terribly urgent as they were just status updates on other cases.

As he walked to the staff’s residential area, he passed by one of the guards stationed near the entrance to the patient cells. “Just finished up, doctor?”

“Yes, Chelsea. It’s been a rough day.” He noticed her slightly weary look. “Is something bothering you? Where‘s your partner?”

She brushed a strand of purple hair away from her eyes. “Garn’s making the rounds right now. And as for me, it’s just that your patient in Cell #4316 hasn’t gone to sleep yet. She’s had that blank look for a while. It’s creeping me out.”

“May I see her?” While Miura really had been looking forward to going to bed, he couldn’t turn his back on his patient who seemed clearly disturbed by something.

“You sure? You look like you could use some sleep,” said Chelsea in a concerned tone. “Besides, it’s lights out.”

“I’m only going to check up on her for a bit. As her doctor, I need to look into this new change of behaviour and determine what could be behind it.”

She gave it some thought before inserting her access key to open the first set of doors. “I really shouldn’t be doing this,” grumbled the woman.

“Admit it. You’ve grown fond of her and are worried about her as well,” said Miura with a tired grin on his youthful face.

Chelsea stuck out her tongue before stepping aside for the doctor to enter the area. “Don’t take too long. I don’t want to hear news of you falling asleep in the middle of a meeting.”

“Heh… you’re such a good friend.”

“Yeah, yeah…“ He waved one last goodbye to the woman before entering the area where they kept low-risk profile prisoners, those who were unlikely to tumble back into criminal activities. The cells themselves were like small dorm rooms with four inmates assigned to one room which has two bunk beds.

It didn’t take him too long to find her cell and just as Chelsea had said earlier, he spotted the pink haired woman, clad in pale white prison sleepwear, sitting on the edge of her bed, staring blankly into the wall while her cellmates snored away. For a second, he thought she didn’t notice him until her pink eyes turned right in his direction. “Doctor,” greeted the woman in a neutral tone.

“Sette…”

“Is there something the matter?”

“I should be asking you that.” This could be a pivotal development in her case. If anything, this would be undeniable proof that his methods were working and give him an extra edge in his attempt to fight the Bureau’s transfer order. “You seem a little distracted.”

“I am… unsettled.” For her to be admitting that, it had to be something huge. Most likely, she had become aware of the interest she is getting from the brass.

After some thought, Miura fished out for his access key and opened her cell door. “How about we take a little stroll? I would like to hear what is bothering you.”

“…… is that an order?”

“It’s an offer to help, Sette. I thought we already talked about how you should not interpret everything as an order,” chided the doctor gently.

“Ah. I apologize then.” After giving it some thought, she rose from the bed and passed through the open door. “I believe I will take you up on the offer.”

‘Yep… she’s definitely making progress.’ He took a moment to gather his thoughts together after relocking the cell door. “Well, what is bothering you?”

“During our last therapy session, you had told me that I had to be the one to determine what my ongoing mission would be. My… life objective as you put it. I have yet to come to an adequate definition of that objective when I was informed of the possible transfer order,” said Sette as she followed the doctor down the dimly lit corridor.

“A lot of people have trouble figuring out what they want to do with their lives even when they’re in their thirties or forties. In most cases, you can’t expect something like that to come instantly.” He took a moment to switch the topic back as it was best not get too side tracked. “So in any case, what would you say is the source of your discomfort? Is it the thought of going into high risk situations every day if you were to be transferred to that division?”

“I do not fear the possibility of death. However, I have no desire to adapt the Bureau’s ongoing mission of collecting and sealing Lost Logia as my own. I do not currently have anything of value that could be considered worth fighting for.”

“But what of your family?” Her profile had indicated that she had a fairly close bond to her fellow Combat Cyborgs. In fact, he recalled that there was a particular unit currently located in Prison Kiliek’s First branch on Uninhabited World 6 that influenced Sette’s decision to stay incarcerated rather than undergo the rehabilitation program that was offered at the time.

“Undoubtedly, those who have chosen to undergo the original rehabilitation program offered by Ms. Nakajima have found new ideals to believe in and new people to value and care for. It is likely the reason why they have not been able to see me or give any indication that they are concerned for my well being. As for the Doctor and my other sisters who chose to stay with him, I have changed too much for them to accept me as I am.”

“That’s… a rather gloomy way of looking at things,” commented Miura before spotting some light coming from an open door ahead of him. He could also hear someone rummaging around in the fridge. “I bet that’s Garn grabbing an unauthorized snack again…”

“In this case, a proper reprimand is necessary,” said the pink haired Combat Cyborg as she followed the doctor towards the kitchen. “If you wish, I can offer assistance in this regard.”

“I’ll be fine. I shouldn’t be-” He nearly lost his balance as he stumbled on something just as he entered the kitchen. After recovering his footing, he looked back at what tripped him and saw the outstretched hand of the other female guard that had gone to make the rounds. She was out cold but alive as he could feel a pulse once he checked up on her. “Thank goodness… you’re alive…”

“She would have been dead if it Ma’am had took the time to do things correctly,” replied a mechanical male voice in a snarky tone that came from behind the fridge door which was wide open, concealing the midnight snacker.

“Well, you can’t eat and murder someone at the same time! It’s not good for digestion!” Miura heard a lid pop open and the sounds of someone tearing into a leftover chicken patty. As the fridge door closed, he was able to make out a blue haired woman with red eyes in a mage’s barrier jacket. What was worse was that she had her axe-like device close by which was currently being pointed at Sette. “Haavan-Rending Funder Got Hammuh!”

For the next several seconds, there was nothing.

“Chew first, swallow and then try saying the incantation,” grumbled the device.

She didn’t get another chance to try as Sette immediately pounced from her position.

Wasn't entirely satisfied with this but finally managed to get over this hurdle. More to come whenever I can write.

So, inspired by the latest Nanoha/Wings of Liberty fic as well as the jokes that I and Skane made at the humour thread, I was tempted to try my own.

Nowhere as good as the other, of course, but it's worth the shot anyway. Here goes nothing:

“Mommy, mommy!”

Nanoha Takamachi violently wakes up. That dream again, she thought as she looks at the calendar. It’s been four years since the fall of the TSAB. Four years since the rise of the Aegis Empire. Four years since that happened.

She drinked her beer and looked at the news. One of the reporter asks, “Imperator, the threat of a new Drone invasion is real, yet you squandered trillions on hunting has-been rebels such as Colonel Nanoha instead of expanding our fleet?”

The man being questioned, Regiuz Gaiz, Imperator and First Citizen of the Aegis Empire, answered. “Nanoha Takamichi represents a clear and present threat to this Imperium! She is a barbaric and dangerous traitor, spreading terror and destruction across the empire. Her ragtag bandits have provoked open rebellions across six different worlds, as well as unlawfully acquiring valuable arms and supplies.”

Nanoha reaches her pocket and looked at what’s inside, a picture of her and her daughter Vivio.

“I assure you, fellow citizens, she will be brought to justice soon!”

Justice. As she heard that word, her hand aimed for the TV monitor and blasts it. “We’ll see about that! Raising Heart, is my forces ready?”

“Yes ma’am. Your fire-teams have arrived as requested. As per instructions, all of them have their devices upgraded with the new Strikemodules from Caledfwlch Arms. In addition, Lieutenant Granscenic and his recon unit are standing by near the Imperial controlled city of Hunia.”

“Good”. Nanoha equips her black and blue patterned barrier jacket. “It’s time to kick this revolution into overdrive!”

It’s quiet, too quiet, Nanoha thought as she and her troops reached the city outskirts. There seems to be no civilians around. “Vice, do you see any life signs, over?”

“Negative, ma’am”, the man answered. “The outskirts looks deserted. Should we reposition to view the north side of the city or do you want us to cover your advance, over?”

The colonel answered. “Go. See what’s going on and report anything important.” “Roger. Over and out”.

As she and her men silently enter the city, they found signs of forced entry from every house they encountered. And then they finally found someone: an old woman, probably in her seventies, softly crying “my family…th-they took my family…”

It looks like the imperial troops are not preparing an ambush, but something else nasty is going on, the soldiers thought. They continued to carefully advance towards the town hall, and there they spotted a group of imperial marines guarding the area.

No news from Vice yet, Nanoha thought, he must be still on the move. “All right team”, she instructed, “move into position. Half of you will provide rapid suppression fire while the others provide heavy precision shots. You’re free to maneuver but be careful of ambush points. Over and out.” She then waits as her troops positioned themselves. “Alright, fire on my mark”. Then she whispers, “Axel….Shooter!”

“What the- ?”, the marine officer shouted. A minute ago it was peaceful, and now she and her team found themselves under heavy fire from many sides. Where did they come from, she thought? The only area that they haven’t inspected yet is the southeast houses, but they’re being attacked from west side. And then she caught a glimpse of the enemy emblem and muttered, “Starlight Spectres!”

This is bad. Their mission was supposed to be standard “peacekeeping” duty. They are prepared for a bunch of militias, but Spectres? Those are Colonel Takamichi’s infamous commandoes, consisting of former members of the elite 108th Battalion, supported by many rebel sympathizers. She has no other option but to call those who are supposed to patrol the west side. “Mayday, mayday. This is Lieutenant Sanders, we are under attack. All patrol units are to reinforce the town hall. I repeat, ALL PATROL UNITS GET BACK HERE!”

The situation is getting worse. More than half of her troops are already down. And then she noticed that a powerful spell is being aimed at her. “Incoming fire!” She barely managed to get away from that Divine Buster, but the rest of her team isn’t so lucky; they’re all incapacitated. Damn it, she thought. Join the marines, they said. See new worlds, they said. She should’ve listened to her father and continue the family business!

As she saw movement from the west side, the lieutenant is glad that help has arrived. “Oh good, reinforcements are com-” Before she finished that sentence however, she paled when she realized those aren’t her troops!

“The Spectres are really here, boys. Let’s help ‘em! Attack!”

With the help of local guerillas, the battle swiftly ends. Before Nanoha has a chance to talk with the guerilla leader however, she received a message from Lt. Granscenic.

“Colonel, we have a situation here. The marines are rounding up civilians into a large cargo ship and are almost ready to take off.”

“That’s our people”, the guerilla leader shouted. “Yesterday the marines rounded up everybody to the city hall and then they searched our homes. A lot of our neighbours are captured for possessing ‘subversive materials’ and are brought to the northern airstrip. We only managed to evade capture by using secret tunnels, but the marines are about found our hideout when you arrived!”

“Vice”, Nanoha orders, “Pin them down. We’ll arrive shortly. Over and out” She then talks to her flight-proficient fire-teams. “No time for sneaking around now. Half of you will stay here and guard the prisoners. The others are to follow me; we’ll fly directly to the enemy!”

The transport pilot asked. “What’s going on?”

“Snipers! The ground troops are pinned down. If we stay here any longer more will show up. Move!”

Just as the transport about to lift off, however, Nanoha’s Divine Buster destroyed one of the engines. Seconds later, her fire-teams had swarmed the enemy and subdued the ground forces. Surrounded, the imperial marines has no choice but surrender.

“Vice, is that all of them, over?” Nanoha asked.

“Yes colonel. We do not see any more of them, over.”

“Alto, this is Nanoha. Bring the gunships here, over.” She then addressed her recon officer, “Vice you’re going with the last plane. Watch our backs, over.”
