It's quartely. It comes out four times a year: February, May, August and October. The chapters' length have decreased too (~20 pages instead of ~40) so this manga is pretty much stalled for the time being.

its the same person that does TLR Darkness right? In that case I'm fine with it being shorter so he can focus more on Darkness.

Even though this is getting shorter, it is still better than the anime that I dropped a long time ago. Yabuki is my monthly (before weekly) dose of Harem and fanservice.

What is a shame is that the authors lose all of the spotlight. As good as art is, you really need a story.

With Mayoi Neko, this is based off a light novel so none of the blame with regards to the story can be put on the manga author.
The difference between this and TLR, though, is that TLR has a writer who's writing for a manga format. Isn't Yabuki working on MNO by himself? If so, then he's responsible for cutting and adapting everything from the LN into a condensed, 20 page (;-;) format.

He's doing a good job, but he definitely has more work storytelling-wise with MNO than with TLR.

I dunno ... for me I like the storyline premise in of itself. I wish I could read the light novels in English - somehow the manga and the anime don't seem to do justice to what I at least imagine the potential of the story to be.... I love the TLR folks popping in and out of the manga, but that is more of a "side feature" of sorts to the story.

Ah well....

I've just come to find out, it's been confirmed that the manga will now be considered as ended.

supposedly it has something to do with

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/inte...n-every-volume

There seems to be some drama ending with the artist for the light novel to cut ties with the series. Seeing as both things happened at once, I figure it's tied together.

My guess is that they couldn't continue the manga that had the character designs of the guy that just cut ties with them.

Yeah, I just came back from moonland sites. Apparently, some people think that's the reason Yabuki can't write anymore MNO manga, since his designs are based on the novel artist's design. That's pretty depressing.

So does this mean the light novels are going to have altered designs for everyone?

The anime was a guinea pig. Now the LN will be too.
Almost feel sorry for the author of the LN.

Pretty much. For the next volume, the artist of the toradora light novel is going to do it, so that'll be neat to see.

Shouldn't Yabuki just adapt with the new chara design and continue this manga? ;_;

I personally don't think that it's about character design, I think that it's because he wants to focus on To Love Ru: Darkness instead.

I only think he started the MNO manga to keep busy while that whole mess with his former wife was going on...

Well, some people even in the TLR blogs thinks that it's the character design ownership that's at fault here. Yabuki has a less busy schedule since he's not weekly anymore and then it was around last year that the Mayoi Neko Overrun light novel stalled before we got this LN restart with revolving artists and the split of the original artist with the MNO author.

It's quite likely that the author and artist went at it a year ago, which stopped Yabuki from making MNO chapters for SQ19, then when it all got resolved, Yabuki couldn't continue making the manga anymore, especially since MNO will have a new artist every new volume now. If it was all up to Yabuki, the publishers probably would've just said it straight up that Yabuki wouldn't be able to do MNO anymore instead of making everyone wait for almost a year with no news.

This design ownership sounds like a stupid issue, but then again, stupid stuff like this has happened before...
