Well I suppose being naked on a coffin in the Moon is indeed a good way to ramp up the creepiness factor...

And to add to my previous post, a character doesn't need to always directly interfere with the plot to be interesting or to have a point. If that were the case, characters like Kensuke and Hikari would never even exist in the first place.

That's one thing I give Sadamoto props for despite thinking the manga isn't on the same level as the anime. After completely reversing the relationship between Shinji and Kaworu in comparison to the anime's, he still managed to make his death meaningful and touching. The double page with Shinji killing Kaworu with his own hands as Kaworu had done with the cat was still one of the saddest and most beautiful Eva moments for me.

It's quite interesting to view the manga in comparison with the anime - the competing visions of these two titanic figures of Gainax (and anime in general) showing their quite different sensibilities. Even more interesting will be to see how the rebuild plays out, given that much of Anno's angst at the time made it's way onto the screen and he's reportedly somewhat less fucked-up now. Will this new version have more of Sadamoto's vision in it for that reason at least, if no other?

These are the 7 co-founders of Gainax: Hideaki Anno, Hiroyuki Yamaga, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Takami Akai, Toshio Okada, Yasuhiro Takeda, and Shinji Higuchi.

Personally, besides Anno-sensei and YS, I've only heard of Higuchi (and yes, apparently, he's Shinji's namesake) as the director of "Japan Sinks". Also, it seems that YS is the silent partner out of the 7. He does what he does best: drawings of people.

Hmm, well there is that. The lack of noticeable Creator Breadown (and boy, did Anno have one that put Tomino's to shame) this time around really makes me wonder about getting something different for the fourth movie (the promised 'new ending'). Less death, but still keeping with the genre deconstruction?

I mean, Tomino directed Turn-A Gundam after his depression, which was optimistic to the EXTREME when compared to the Gundam series that came before it, and has since helmed sort-of lighthearted series like King Gainer. What Anno will give us remains to be seen, but again, this are still looking bright so far. I still expect things to come tumbling down (I mean, EVA just won't be EVA without the angst), but to what extent, well...

For those who like youtube.

Looks kickin', besides the few annoying use of CG. However, I think those will be worked on before release.

It's less than 2 months to official opening in Japan. I'm hope we get a R2J DVD release in time for Christmas.

Damn right. It's good to hear that the new material is plenty epic, just what these films need.

I dont know if your were being sarcastic but he simply stated like Kid Ying earlier, the content of the trailer is enough to "Jizz in his pants"... remember Auska early in the original movie..?

Come to think of it...is Evangelion the only anime to have such a scene...?

Evangelion really must have been revolutionary...
