I'm kind of upset they changed the designs. I think the designs are what help make it unique among other things. Also i've grown to like the original designs.

I don't like it because it's a sell out. It's going with the fad. Plus the increase moe will totally ruin the gun and action factor too.

Considering that the origin manga already was gunning for moe (pun intended) in the first place, I don't see how changing the character design to be cuter would make it any "worse" than it already is.

Also, most manga designs don't survive the transition to anime adaptation, so why's this any different? In any case, changes in character design do not translate to an objective decrease in storytelling quality nor tell us the direction the story will go, since those two are completely different matters. Calling it a "sellout" just because of character design changes strikes me as presumptuous to say the least.

there are a lot of changes in manga to anime designs, but they took to an extreme, funco doesnt even resemble their original, ok they improved the designs, but take working! for example, they managed to make characters recongizable from the manga still improving the designs.

Just watched the PV : sounds a little more ecchi than the manga. Hope that the level of ecchiness won't be Softenni level.

Hearing the name Softenni brought up in this thread as a point of comparison just makes me more excited. That brand of unrealism requires a lot of finesse to get right, and if this show can master that, I am totally in.

90% of the anime shows the girls in underwear, naked or pantyshots, plot, where?
characters are the epitamy of dumb, couldnt stand more than 1 and a half episode.

I don't know if getting Kanokon's/LvB's animator for this series was a good idea. Either choose action girls or moe girls, don't force unnecessary chubby ecchi into this thing.

I'm not sure this is an "either or" thing. The blending of styles may dilute things, but it can also enhance them. If styles continue to be segregated, things can't evolve. Even for a comedy series like this one.

I'm actually learning some stuff abot guns from reading this manga. As someone who has never even held a gun before, this is all very interesting to me...and the joke practically write themselves...

A series should never require 'ecchi' in order to achieve anything. It can be used minimally for comedy, but only if used minimally. If they start to overdo it to pander to the otaku who will likely watch this show for 'moe' among other things, it will start to get old relatively fast.

This is one of the things that made me feel relatively lukewarm when watching Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. I loved the Western influence, the characters, the art, the music, and general feel of things but sometimes felt the sex or toilet jokes were out of place or overdone. Mind you, this is different from straight 'ecchi', but I hope the point I was making still gets across.

Also, the new art looks alright. For some reason FNC-tan's eyes bugged me.

I think we're talking about two different things. I was focusing on the character designs. How this got into the level of fanservice a series should require is kind of a non-sequitor.
