Just because they made a heart sign while fighting does not mean Alto wants a loli in his harem.

And Alto doesn't have the charisma to attract giant women. Rock stars like Basara do. (2 out of 7 of the Jenius children. If mama Millia only knew she'd set up one of her older daughters. )

That said this is becoming a Mech and Tech thread.

Interstingly the age of 17 is the age of majority in Frontier. As Ozma is advising Ranka who is 16.

Also in Macross 7 mama Millia with her bugging of Mylene and later Basara indicate that there is trend of young people marrying early.

Makes more sense than cloning. Reminds me of Final Fantasy X where the existence of Sin encouraged people to get down to buisness asap.

Let's not forget that Alto's shot was aimed directly into the breach that Klein had already created. I don't think we have enough information to conclude what would have happened if Alto had been shooting an undamaged spot, or if Klein had managed to get off two shots into that spot instead of one.

The regular yellowish Vajra ships aren't as well-protected as the red ones either; we saw in episode 1 that the VF-25's gunpod was perfectly adequate to take them out. The NUNS VF-171s were being outmanoeuvred so badly they couldn't score any hits, so their guns were irrelevant - they could all have been equipped with liquid-plasma cannons and they'd still have been wiped out.

I know most colony fleets are self contained but I think in one of the openings it stated that and "minimal" need for resupply which still indicates that they do need resupply.

Would NUNS do this or a civilian contractor? With the introduction of SMS I'm gonna say it's something that gets out sourced.

It reads to me more as if there's no real need for resupply, but the fleet could still benefit from it. Sheryl's arrival in a shuttle indicates that there's some passenger service between the different fleets (it also suggests that Macross Frontier wasn't her only stop). This kind of service is probably a private concern, and most of the resupply is likely performed by private freight companies. I'd imagine that only essential supplies are carried by the military. In both cases, I can't imagine there being all that material being moved both because the fleets are so far apart and they don't stay in a single place.

On a different note, please discuss the technologies and weapons in the Mecha thread.

Well an interfleet and colony trade via space fold transports could explain the wealth of people in these colonies.

From Sheryl's description of Galaxy it's an indutrialized colony fleet.

Where Frontier with it's systems of island ships is a agricultural colony fleet.

Macross 7 fleet was more of a jack of all trades with specialization ships for agriculture, entertainment, relaxation, science, a training academy, industry.

They're designed to operate independently of one another, so every Macross fleet has to have a capacity for every industry. What Sheryl's description suggests is that every fleet has the freedom to organize these capacities in different manners. Frontier is much like Macross 7 in that it uses specialized ships for different purposes. The contrast with Macross Galaxy is that it seems the latter's Island One also contains a fair amount of industry, and that it doesn't have the aesthetic touches that Frontier has. It's also a good idea to keep in mind that Sheryl's account may be colored by the fact that she doesn't like Galaxy; and that it might be much nicer than she makes it sound.

Looking back at Macross 7 I've never seen Mylene in school.

For a 14 year old she drives her own car and works as a band vocalist and bass player.

In Frontier we have these highschool students 16 to 17 years old who can work in civilian military contractors. From my understanding Luca is accellerated in Mihoshi academy.

I mean sure Mylene is from the genius Jenius bloodline but she's more independent than the girls in Frontier. Sheryl still has a nanny, two of them. (Her manager Grace and liason Cathy)

But even weirder is Dr. Chiba, the Minmei otaku and sound energy specialist, whom I remember stated he graduated or entered university at 12.

It might be from the outlook that people just want to live their lives as they see fit, cause it could be easily snuffed out :P

Thanks to the space 1 war, i can definitely see the advantages of having a populous that can pilot Valkyries.

Indeed. It's just they wanted to tie the two things together, so having the fighters creating contrails in the first place, much less a heart shape, was just a matter of artistic license. And, as Bobby notes, it's VERY artistic.

Isn't she 15? Ranka, that is? Alto's 16, and Sheryl's 17 if I remember things correctly. Which means she's still not going to reach her majority for at least a year or two.

This also seems to apply to personnel as well - Sheryl describes Galaxy as having no Zentradi/Meltlandi amongst them, which is part of why she was so surprised to see them in their giant state. And Sheryl's account is probably colored by her experiences with it... but even then, it sounds like the Frontier's designers did deliberately set out to make things very aesthetic, to judge by some of the touches we've seen (large bodies of water, actual islands within the island if I remember the layout that we saw from that sky-based observation platform).

Tuna? Why not? I just don't expect them to go out the airlock for it this time.

Why TUNA?

Could be Sea Bass, salmon, or some other type of fish.

*flex for a fish fight*

See, that's Zentradi/Metrandi quality at it's very best. Big, robust and the equipment still effective after countless years of regular use.

Yay for Meltrandi !

Seriously, i never understood the fetish sex-with-alien things, but if Meltrandi landed on Earth.

I'll be the first in line to sing my heart out for some hot action.

Depends which alien, I guess. The slimy tentacled things? Ew. Meltrandy? Interesting.

BTW, do Abh count as "alien"?
