Bayonetta

So the game's finally out here in the states, with raving reviews from everyone.

My copy won't be here until Friday =/

Anyone else get it?

Also, LULZ (some spoilers?)

Can't believe this doesn't have a thread already.

Finished the Japanese PS3 version a few months ago, and it's awesome. Best action game I've played (and the first one I've bothered to beat on all difficulty levels) - fantastic gameplay, awesome soundtrack and a surprising amount to do. Other than the obvious port issues the only thing I'd mark it down for is the existence of QTEs, which should be legally banned or something.

Here's a look at what is just about the most explict costume in the game, those of the Witch Queen :-

Spoiler for Close ups, might be NSFW:

There are other which cover just about all conventional fetish now. Kimonos, cheer girl, BDSM, Buruma, etc.

Just completed it on Bayonetta on medium(played a bit of hard as well). Best action game I played ever. It isn't without its flaws though.

Just a few random things on Bayonetta.
The game mocks you for dying. It's pretty frustrating that the game over screen reminds you how much you fail by counting how many times you died(I don't use items feels like cheating ).

QTE, I know I am pretty slow, but come on when I see EVADE you are conditioned press the R trigger, but surprise you need to press b+y(Triangle + O on PS3).

The length is pretty good . I thought it was short with someone mentioning a 3hour speed run, but seriously an awesome player should get about triple that on his first time playing Bayonetta(though I am not sure how long I did o_O).

The vehicle section was surprisingly playable, I wasn't a fan of the starfox section though.

Needs more smaller mobs, I really disliked the giant boss battles since they are harder to witch time(they just move weird most time, though the projectiles are easy to witch time).

Btw you know those clawed thingy's sparky and flamy, but the version when both of them are flames can you which time them? I couldn't, the elektro and flame version where easy to which time. I just kept dieing, but then I noticed those rocket tonfas work surprisingly well on them.

If you like action games don't pass this game up.

well PS3 version is techincally inferior, but the game itself is still very much intact and very much worth the purchase

Its not the best action game ever, That award still belongs to devil may cry 3:SE.

The characters and plot are downright laughable, It still boggles my mind how kamiya, the guy who wrote okami came up with such utter nonsense.

Boss fights all follow a fairly predictable and similar pattern, The dmc 4 rip offs are apparent. Puzzles are mundane and non-existent. The game doesn't deliver as a whole package.

On the positive side though, It is undoubtedly the best action game this generation with the base gameplay so fun and rewarding. The gameplay never really feels boring as its constantly throwing new stuff at you.

The characters andplot are sort of designed to be laughable though. THe ungodly campiness of some of the lines and scenes in this game is weird, and then mix campy with pornographic and you've got yourself a weird mix of entertainment.

At least the levels throughout the game arn't rinsed and repeated with the same bosses. Granted you face weaken version of them one or two times after.

Fact is, Capcom is on a downward spiral after the departure of Mikami and Kamiya.

You have Darksiders for that aspect. This is more focus on action.

I got it on 360, I'm a Sony fanboy but I buy the superior version, like I just picked up Darksiders on Ps3 today since the 360 version is full of tearing.

Honestly the only thing I care about in an action game is the gameplay. I didn't care if it was lacking in other departments. DMC3 was also laughable in the character and plot department. About the boss fight you act like DMC3 was different. It's pretty good puzzles are non exciting considering in DMC3 it was pretty much shit(with a lot bs backtracking). Not to mention imo Ninja Gaiden was always better then DMC.

The thing I like about Bayonetta it isn't trying to be anything it isn't. You know what the core thing is that sets Bayonetta apart? With DMC you are trowing your controller out of the window, with Bayonetta you are cursing your retarded thumbs. D:

Bayonetta is gamers game. With gamer I mean the people who are used to simplicity of the old days. Where games didn't try to do everything. Bayonetta focuses everything on one thing and does it in a flashy way.

edit: message down there deleted is because I didn't notice I was posting a new reply. D:

Gracious and Glorious? Nope, I could never witch time them either. Gave up eventually. On the plus side once you're used to them on normal, aside from doing more damage they're no harder on non-stop climax.

Regular playthrough on normal first time is about 10-12 hours, not including extras.
