Wow, I liked this ova, even if I haven't watch or read anything about it. I missed the series, is it worth watching it? And I don't understand, will each ova be related to the previous or not?

As an anime only fan of this show, I really liked the anime series until the ending... It felt like a "to be continued" ending, with the continue part not happening yet.

The OADs, from what I read, will be snippets from certain manga chapters, that are included in the limited edition of the manga volume 30 and 31, respectively. The first OAD is animated from volume 16, and the next OAD will animate from volumes 24 and 25.

Faces are a tad bit off, but pretty good eps. Ringo moment at the end was one of my fav in the manga =P

Man I need to reread this manga, so much convoluted crap going on, hard to keep up.

They really should do a spinoff about obama chick though.

Heh... Man oh man, I haven't touched anything Air Gear since, what chapter was it, 70 or so, but for some reason seeing this on the release list this week was the first I've ever heard of this OAD and watched it immediately afterwards. I'm glad I did. For me I watched it for Ringo alone, for the obvious reasons aside from her choice in VA . Sky flying twintail, man I miss Ringo so much, worth the minimal amount of confusion incurred from the lack of understanding of the plot (though I did see some unavoidable manga discussion on IRC in years past, so the whole thing about Simca and her hair cut wasn't new)

Which leads me to ask, the hilarious story surrounding the reason why I stopped reading the manga. It was the part when she put the paper bag on her head, which I kind of ragequit reading the manga afterwards because of said obvious reason, but I see it mentioned here that this OAD takes place around chapter 130. Now, I recall my last chapter visited was around the 70's, or whichever arc it was when she dons the paper bag, so my question being, no manga spoilers please, if I were to re-visit Air Gear again from whence I stopped, will there be enough Ringo to satisfy me? Seems like at the end of this OAD Ikki skips town, which I view that translated as "no more Ringo for awhile".

Man, Ringo sure can slap. I'd like to get slapped by her too

Yep, after ch70 there's still enough Ringo (and some of her best outfits ^^). After the battle with Ikki, though, she begins to fade away and pretty much disappears from the story till chapter 230 or so. That's IMO one of Ogure's many bad moves, since she's the female lead and all.

Just watched it, really great. The animation was great, and while I'm a bit put off on the way they changed Kururu and Aeon's hair colours, it was amazing.

True, there is less Ringo but seeing as though she is his enemy (technically at least) she can't be hanging around him that much can she? Plus Kururu replaces her as the new female lead, though she doesn't appear all that much either at times....

I don't think a "female lead" can be replaced, since the role in the narrative is more than just screen time. But that's my film student side talking. Still, when Emily and her friend (can't remember the name) told Kururu she couldn't replece Ringo, I took that as a meta comment. I thought, so Ogure knows that what makes Ringo the female lead is something that shouldn't be transferred to another character, he's not that bad. But reality is Ogure's writing sucks so you never know

Talking about screen time though, Kururu definitely replaces Ringo somewhat, at least till chapter 238 or so.

On a more on-topic note, I really liked they left most of Ogure's sh**ty pseudo-physics out of this little OVA. There's nothing that hurts the dramatic tension more than that crap.

Seeing Ringo without her glasses surprised me a bit. I hought she needed those. This OAD sure is really pushing me to read the manga again

Gee whiz... that's tough. How am I going to stomach all this. I see I'm well over 200 chapters behind from my departure to current chap, but hearing that there's less Ringo along the way makes the revisitation a lot harder to swallow

Yeah i know what you mean. I'm probably just gonna read a few chapters a day, and take my time with it. Problem last time was that i wanted to marathon and catch up fast, so a lot of the content was just flying over my head.

As much as I liked this OAD, was pretty good in fact i,t doesn't however prompt me to start reading the manga again cause I frankly couldn't put up with how dire the story became.
I'm pretty open to alot of things but the manga took a huge nose dive into the toilet tank for me and I'm never going to read it again.
It really kinda irks me cause I kept with it for so long as well.

Saying that, seeing the characters in some great animation again was good plus like others, I'm a Kururu fan and even yet still a Simca fan
Never really cared much for Ringo.

Always wanted and waited on seeing Kururu in her animated form and they didn't disappoint

p.s reading some of these comments, I find I never knew some people considered Kururu's hair blonde, I always thought it was pink from the start.

Eh, I was also a Simca fan... until I heard she cut her hair. I was like, that hat is her trademark, man!

There was another thing that made me laugh, with Index S2 airing now, this Ikki looked like a skating Touma

Well, I wont say much but as of the manga events currently, their going on how AT technology became publicly available from top secret military research and development.

Also the number 1 mastermind of how Air Gear came to be is about to be revealed.

I prefer Kururu to be blonde though, perhaps due to the fact that the first colours of her had blonde hair, which she looked good in. Simca already has pink hair and theres no one from the main female cast to have blonde, so it would have made her more individual.

I prefer short hair , so my opinion on Simca's new look will be pretty obvious. Still i will agree that her hat was a trademark, and it was a shame to loose it. Her first few chapters in the series are so so good.
