(L) Toradora! Novel Discussion

So I got tired of waiting for the next episode. Went out and grabbed Toradora novel #7 (through nefarious means) and read it tonight.

Very depressing:

Spoiler for Everybody gets shafted!:

Taiga: Realizes Minori likes Ryuuji and vice versa. Realizes she herself likes Ryuuji (e.g. in the Kitamura fiasco she cared more about Kitamura's hurt feelings than her own) and has a breakdown in the middle of the street on Christmas Eve, because she is alone again.
Minori: Witnesses Taiga's breakdown and tells Ryuuji that it's alright if she doesn't see the UFOs and ghosts. Trashed the school christmas tree to boot.
Ryuuji: Apparently gets rejected by Minori and contracts influenza because he was busy cheering Taiga up. Loses his xmas present for Minori and his cellphone. Novel ends with him being "bearly" conscious and having fever dreams.
Teacher: Turns 30, still single, ponies up 1500 yen to attend a Real Estate Purchasing Meeting for Single Women on Xmas Eve.
Ami: Gets angry at all the emotional juveniles around her, exits stage left.
Kitamura: Poor bastard already suffered enough heartbreak last novel.

At least Sumire is having a grand ol time at either Harvard or MIT, according to the postcard address shown in the anime...

Gosh, it's soooo... like the author's style. The joy comes first before all the depression. Like what she did in Watashi-tachi no Tamura-kun.

And I don't think Sumire ended up happy either, from what I can remember of book 6. Can't really check with the site the way it is right now though.

Nooo... I don't... have the strength... to resist... Damn it, I read the spoiler.

Seems like the next few anime episodes will be pretty heartbreaking. Very centered around the Taiga, Ryuji and Minori trio, which will equate to many a good drama moment.

If you had bothered to read the first line of my post, you would've seen that they were spoilers for Novel #7. I wrote the post to get it off my chest. I suppose I'll read 8 and 9 later this week (if you want spoilers I believe some other user has posted lengthy synopses elsewhere in the thread.

And yes, the spoilers I posted in the spoiler box could be completely fake, IF the anime decides to strike out on its own regarding plot.

Spin-off 2 was quite fun^^ Especially loved Haruta's romance part. It was great...and was quite touching. I enjoyed Haruta's stupidity very much XD he's kinda slow in the head but he is a nice guy. He used some very funny lines for someone who'll understand (That was nice of the author, to get some calculated laugh like that)

Never read the first spin-off but this spin-off sure is a thumbs up XD

Haruta is voiced by the guy who does Takumi in Chaos;HEAd... I can already see the similarities.

He's a lot less sad than Takumi, though.

Toradora spin-off 1:

1. The Cherry-Coloured Tornado of Happiness

Tomiie Kouta is a 1st year high-school student. One day, Kouta meets with Kano Sakura, the younger sister of Kano Sumire who is "everyone's brother" and the Student Council President. Kouta is attracted to the bright and cute Sakura, but Sakura was a naive innocent girl who did not know her sexual attractiveness!

Kouta, who is led to help Sakura study for her failed mid-term test retakes, struggles with immoral imaginations and thoughts being in front of Sakura... What's going to become with the love between Kouta, who is not used to being happy, and Sakura who has no idea of whatsoever...?!

Adding to the story of an destined-to-be-unfortunate boy and an innocent girl, a new story of Taiga and Ryuuji is also included-- Super Romantic Comedy "Toradora!" Spin-offs appears!

Spin-off 2 is collection of short stories. They include:

Ah i see same here I couldn't help it I'm reading the novels in chinese right now only at volume 5 <.<

So the next few episodes would reflect the lyrics of Silky Heart o.o

I just hope ... vol 8 and 9 isn't like 7 x.x

There are other posts in the thread which suggest that the animation staff have obtained outlines for novel number 10.

8 or 9... will probably be tracing a death spiral until happy end.

Toradora has too many resolutions and happy endings to end up like School Days.

Though I wouldn't be against it, heh.
