Hmm. Why do people think that this series is a harem? I'd label it more of an anti-harem...

Spoiler for Hehe:

Kinda nitpicking, but when Hachiman called Yui "bicchi", why the sub translated it as "slut", and not simply "bitch"? Perhaps it's just me, but unless Hachiman intended to seriously insult Yui, there's no way he would call her "slut"

Just because something's in katakana doesn't mean it's in English. Words carry different connotations between cultures.

Might be interesting, but we'll have to see later I suppose.

Because otherwise her "No, I'm a virg-" response wouldn't have made any sense. Obviously in Japanese the loanword "bitch" has strong sexual connotations. You'd have to be a pretty poor translator to screw up something like that.

Yeah, it's not the first time Japanese has completely bastardized english words (or how us English speakers do the same.... "hentai", "bishie", or even "anime" comes to mind ). Another example would be the word "Mansion". To the typical english speaker, you're thinking a grand, or extraordinarily large house. To the typical Japanese speaker, that pretty much means a high class apartment/condominium.

So yeah, literally she did say bitch. But the way she meant it, it's closer to the english word slut.

You know, initially I didn't see a lot of value in this show (the description on MAL really doesn't describe what you're getting very well). The assumption was a Keima-like character being thrown into a RomCom harem. I was glad that this was not the case.

In fact, I'm quite glad I watched this because I found it to be a pretty interesting premise. As long as maintains the idea it started out with, I think it has good potential.

Mostly though, it reinforces the fact that I'm really good at choosing anime that I'll actually like. :P

Spoiler for Episode's Ending Talk:

I think it's the tone that draws me in.

That bitterness of highschool life. Tastes so good.

It can depend on the subber. The one I got (forgot which) translated it as "bitch".

The loanword 'bitch' in Japanese refers to a woman who's loose with men in a sexual manner.

Looks like we gonna get a love triangle?

A triangle would mean that Hachiman would have to point in one direction as well, which I expect will be quite hard to see, haha.

It'll probably get very energetic, so have all your brain usage focused into the anime.

This show wont require that much brain power. Just sit back and enjoy the character interactions. Your brain can go on auto-pilot.

Meh, that was a fine episode, but not really spectacular. It certainly continues the trend of one or two animes having absurdly long names every season, though. I'll continue watching, but I'm not expecting much out of it.

Seen first ep. I actually like our snarky “rotten” MC. He’s not just cynical but somewhat smart even though socially awkward. I enjoy his verbal exchanges with Yukino as well as his “solution” to Yui’s problem through his “self sacrifice” by telling his own failure in the past . The “solution” ended up worked for both Yui and Yukino even if only a bit. I’ll put this series to my follow-list.

It wasn't him. It was "Friend of his friend". So by no means Hikki himself! Definitely not!
