Fairy Tail Anime Episode Discussion Thread [Episode 165 and Onward]

I am going to leave the relationship with Wendy and Jellel aside for now, since Jellel was quiet this episode (so not much information to go by).

As for why Jellel is so silent and harsh towards Brain, I believe that during the last battle, Jellel tried to revive Zeref. However, a sacrifice was needed, in that case, Erza. In the end, Jellel died, so in essence, he ended up being the sacrifice.

I am going to guess that the current Jellel is actually Zeref, hence the harsh treatment towards Brain.

I wasn't expecting them to kill off Lyon. It's kind of left me in shock.

There was a lot of cool action in this episode (even though the whole premise for starting the race was incredibly flimsy. The best explanation I can make is that Racer just likes being fast since his primary magic actually isn't speed based.)
During the middle of the episode I kind of started suspecting he was teleporting instead of running but the way he does it seems kind of complicated. It's usually easier to teleport than to stop time.

Anyway it seems like Hibiki's magic is actually just a Mac. Also Racer was one of the slave children. So it seems like the tower was a recruitment tool for the dark guilds. Imagine we could have been seeing Wally, Sho and Millianna in this arc...

Also the guild felt so empty without any of the usual members except Mirajane and Makarov. The non-generics make the guild seem more lively.

Stripper power! Racer got seriously impressed by their speed, looks like no one can beat them in stripping speed.

Motorcycle race seemed slightly random I must say though...

Looks like all of the Sei's guilds members were once trapped in a tower jus like Erza.

I wonder if others knew about Racer's real magic, because basicly it means that he never was doing things faster than them... But then again Jllal's tomb was far away, racer's magic could not affecthis team mates, how come they believed that he brought Jellal back quiet fast?

So Midnight is finally awake?Cool! And Brain is his father? 0_o That was unexpected.

DAMN! Is Lyon really dead? So did not see that coming! And I just started to like the guy T_T

I found the bike fight pretty silly in the manga, and the same here . Still everything after was awesome, with some nice music placement. Plus i'm really liking the new pieces of music.

I really like that you see Lyon's true character in this episode. We've just seen him being controlled by revenge in the past, so it's really nice. As for if he's dead or not, let's wait and see.

Uchiyama Kouki makes a nice Midnight from the few words he had. Can't wait to hear more.

Now that it's sort of revealed in the anime, I'd like to point out that in one of Erza's flashbacks in the Tower of Heaven arc you can see all the Oracion Seis as kids standing in a corner. Cobra has a snake, Racer has his nose, etc. So this has actually been foreshadowed.

Well you probably did notice them, though didn't think twice because you had no idea who they were, or if they'd play a part in the series later.

So Natsu has an apples in his head on his way to save Erza, i found that funny, the race was really random, so Lyon showed his true character, nice of them working together and even stripping together, can't believe he sacrificed himself though, nice to see Sherry get some screen time, so Brain worked for the Bureau of Magic, is that like FBI, his true identity is still hidden, so Midnight is his kid, so Racer and the others were all on the island with Erza, so that explains how they know Jellal, i actually do remember seeing those kids in that ep, but never thought anything of it, so next ep Erza maybe finally healed and Midnight attacks and Jellal still wandering

I noticed this in the first fight when Erza touched Corbra's hand, a sudden flashback came up.

Well certainly forgot about the kids. That arc was a while back and it's not like some random kids are going to stick in your memory easily. Still a fun thing to look back and notice.

Bike fight was silly, but still fun to watch . Was a great combination effort by the apprentices. Lyon still uses more moving creation magic, but at least with two hands he's improving their durability.

I still don't get Racer's magic at all. It made no sense for getting Jellal. If he wasn't actually going fast then he had to run far away to grab it and come back. That would take a very long time. I can't see how he could affect perceptions for that long. Honestly I think speed magic made a lot more sense than what his actual magic ended up being. Seems like they tried to be too creative when it didn't need to be.

But really if you say it like that it's pretty much announcing Lyon as being alive. Wouldn't have been too surprised if he did survive it since tough for good guys to get killed. Anyways a good episode for him. Shows good fighting sense with figuring out the magic (which is really impressive since it's just odd).

Good job with installing an apple into Natsu's head .

um... not as impressed with the fight here as in the manga. I think it's got to do with the stills. The stills!! Uh!!!

anyway, great to see Lyon and Gray working together. The scene with Gray is particularly well done..well, I suppose, since that was their winning moment. Gray pulling back an ice bow.
