Just ordered the Wacom Intuos 2 6x8 platinum off of newegg. It gets shipped Monday and I should get it between Tuesday and Thursday (hoping tuesday as they are shipping from very close to me). I can't wait to try that sucker out!

Well I've been reading through the thread, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news. If you think a tablet would drastically improve your drawing skills you are wrong. Not only would a tablet be be harder to use then a pencil, It will take very long to get used to the smooth surface thats on the tablet.

The only thing that it does do is make it easier to draw on the computer instead of using the mouse.

Never ever said I was getting one to drastically improve my drawing skills ^^.

I just wanted a tablet so I could skip the drawing on paper part and go right into the computer without having to resort to using a mouse (my hand isn't steady enough to have any success with that).

I think my drawing skills are alright, they need to get better, but I haven't really been drawing very long so that's to be expected.

I'm improving every time I draw I think (only my opinion as no one comments on my art thread so I have no clue what other ppl think, except for the post by forsaken )

So I have no expectations of the tablet making me a better artist. I just draw for fun and wanted to get a new toy that would help streamline the whole process.

Oooh... are those 's for me??

::huggles Duke::

At any rate, I just went with a cheap $50 AceCAD Acecat Flair... Not the fanciest or biggest tablet in the world, but it works just fine. I find that paying for brand names doesn't always buy the best... but it's really about what you need and want.

Ahh what the heck, since I've never used a tablet before I figured go with the bigger numerical value for all the stats they were listing lol. I'm not all that hurting for money at the moment so I had the spare cash to get the nice version.

And yes the was for you.

i'd say Intuos 2 is the best one out so far but wacom released intuos 3 recently

my next buy is probably an intuos 3, if too expensive, I will go for 2 A4 version cost around 300 gbp on internet

the thing is just so sexy.

I'm using graphire 2, it's not great, but it does the job.

wacom is never the same with paper though, so if you wanna improve your art skill, paper and pencil is your best choice

May I suggest a UC-Logic Superpen? Its 8X6 and about 80bucks, has about 1000 pressure, really nice tablet. I got one for myself and it works great. In my opinion it is every bit as good as those more expensive wacom intuos.

Walk around and sketch? oh boy, you mean the digital portable ones? You probably wouldn't be able to get one unless you fork out at least 1-2 grands. ( If you are interested I suggest Acer Travelmate CI330 though....)

The tablet that I use is for the drawing on the computer ONLY.

gladd your still gonna continue drawing ^_~. For something portable as you describe, i think that ones called a tablet pc..though it will cost equivalent to those expensive intuos2~3 (bout $170~ up, but hey who knows) I'm not good with recommending stuff but try getting a size higher than that of size 4x5 / 5x4.

on ebay theres one called Fujitsu Stylistic LP T-600 Pen Tablet (portable i think) .. is 600 mhz and basically a laptop/tablet/mp3 player etc.. but looks cool.

o shoot...... 1 or 2 grands?
guess ill use a normal tablet until i can save up......
but seriously, 2 grand is a price of a nice laptop.

when i start drawing, i go in a trance and i hear nothing. NOTHING!!!
lol.
ill be looking into the ones you recommended me Shoeshefied. ^^
i got about 250 bucks. and maybe more depending on the 25th.
but i dont wanna blow all my greens on a tablet.

but is 4X5 size enough?
it hardly seems enough....

umm****, i'm not even sure that tab pc is even a drawing thing, i havent really look into it though. The best I could say before rushing that gorgeous color of green', is search through other art forums, like do a yahoo/google search for 'good tablet comparing to intuos' etc.

4x5 is a perfect size for me.

#1 I barely have enough room on my desk to fit an 6x8. #2 Once you get used to it (which happens to be very quickly), you spend less time moving your hand everywhere considering the board emulates the screen. If you want to be very precise, I guess you could go big.

Where do you buy it? The place I checked (superpen.com) had set the price at 114 $ and although I can afford that, if I can get it 35 $ cheaper somewhere else it'd be great.

You might want to check on ebay, that's where I ordered mine. The shipping is really fast if you pay with paypal.( I got mine in about 3 days )
