Read this to get why they picked this out of all the shoujo manga to animate:

That's some term-bending over there, seriously! Anyway, it isn't the first shoujo manga to be invaded by the otaku masses.. just look at Marimite, e.g.. I'll probably have a look at it cause the covers are cuteness overload. |

I'm definitely an avid supporter of cute girls doing cute things, but this manga made me puke tbh. It's really aimed at kids. -.-"" So not loli fans or anything it's aimed at kids. So even though a lot of people act like kids I doubt they will like this.
I for one will not watch this. |

I'm not sure, could go either way. I mean, we've all been through the sort of stuff these kids go through(there's a lot about the boys too), so familiartiy and empathy is pretty much a given.
Spoiler:
There's plenty of good laughs too, both appropriate and gray-area. But, like I said, I think a lot of people will never even think of the above terms, just see the characters for what they are, kids trying to deal with the many difficult issues of becoming adults. Actually, I think this'll be a lot like Aishiteruze Baby. Yes, there was skin and innuendo and more, but you don't think about it. Even with the main guy's obviously colorful love life, all I kept hearing was "too adorable to bear". Ultimately, I think a lot of people will like it. Last edited by Seiryuu; 2007-09-18 at 06:41. |

Funny, I cant seem to find the first volume in my folders anymore.
Anyway, I like what I saw when I read the first volume a while ago, and I fail to see why they are pointing the finger at the people buying it. This is just another slice of life show with a bit of romance in the end. Do people think bad about the title (and the readers) because it deals with puberty and sex education?

But you are right in a sense. I have yet to see a character with lesbian tendencies in this title, so this certainly doesn't start like IM. This manga has a lot of scenes that also show up on other shows, and if you ever bother checking it (in case you haven't), you'll realize that there's nothing dirty or disturbing about them (at least when you compare it with things we see in other shows). As a matter of fact, romance and comedy are actually very present in the story, so not every chapter is centered around sexuality. At the end of the day, you can't really say anything as to why people are buying this title. Maybe they are perverts, maybe they are curious, maybe they just grab anything thats labeled as "popular" and maybe....... just maybe, they are actually interested in the story, characters and art. If a pervert buys this expecting a ton of loli-fanservice (ala Moetan) they are gonna end up extremely disappointed. But anyway, going back to the anime....... As always, I am curious to see how much the anime version will differ from it's manga counterpart. There's not a lot of manga material to go along, so I can only guess that they are not gonna skip on much stuff.

This isn't exclusively about girls' growth. Its main character in both stories is a girl, and thus it is more strongly focused on the girl's experience and her impressions, but it certainly deals with the guys as well. And it's not merely an educational piece, it portrays the actual experience and interactions typical to the age. Rather than seeing it as a girls' sex ed and therefore off-limits to males, why not look at it as a growing-up story that stays cleaner and more innocent than Kyou no Go no Ni could ever hope to be.
As I said before, we guys can relate to some of the issues the guys in these stories deal with, and the familiarity makes their different approaches all the more comical. That said, I too wonder what and how much is going to cross over. To my knowledge, there's two stories, one having a transfer student of sorts who befriends the heroine and understands a lot about everything, and the other having a similarly knowledgeable alien observer masquerading as the new heroine's twin brother. I hope both come through, the contrast of how characters react to explanations coming from a boy or girl is worth it. Any way, I suspect some of the funniest parts will be a little hard to carry over. For instance, after accidentally catching a pair of friends kissing, the heroine falls on top of a classmate, and both blush as one leg lands right between his legs. Then, as he runs off, she mutters "he's a boy...". Or at one point a girl turns furiously to a male classmate who'd been peeking in their shower room and yells at the top of her lungs, "Who are you calling smooth as a baby's bottom? I do TOO have hair!" Last edited by Seiryuu; 2007-12-09 at 08:35. |

Things could change at any time, though. I dont really understand the "retarded" comment you made, But I do know that once a person set his/her mind into hating something, there's really no turning back for them; So I am not even gonna bother with an argument here. I am planning on watching this, and I hope that people can keep things civil and dont start to trow generalized insults at anyone who may want to watch this. If someone want to trash this show, be my guess, if someone wants to label it as the worst title of the year, feel free to do so. I just hope the hate goes toward the show and not the people interested in this. EDIT: Oh yeah, there's also a chance that I end up hating the show too. Volume 2 was a disappointment for me on many different levels. If the anime decides to go for a similar formula, I could easily be the first to ditch this. >_< !

Can't take anyone seriously when all they do is trow indirect insults toward people that may disagree with them. EDIT: Btw, I keep saying the 'show', when I am obviously talking about the manga. If all this derailment continues, I may have to ask a mod to move all these post to the manga thread. >_< !

At the end of the day, it's up to everyone to decide what shows they want to watch and what shows they dont want to watch. EDIT: Wow, some random comment you decided to add at the end there... Quote:
Do try to have a bit more of perspective before making comments such as this.
