That's reassuring. I don't know how long I'll stick with this show for now (I may end up marathoning it later), but it's good to know that at least the source material knows what it's doing.

Personally I'm giving it one more episode to bring the heat and if it doesn't by then I'm going into monthly-marathon mode on it, I think. I expected them to take awhile just getting things set up but if they can't at least get it set up by the end of next week...it wouldn't speak well of the overall prospects.

It has been interesting so far, but the pace seems a bit slow. Maybe it is the lack of emphasizing music, or whatnot, so I do hope things pick up a bit.

There seems to be a hint that magic might have something to do with Aika's death. Maybe she was sacrificed? Maybe they stole something from her, like her soul? If so, there might be a chance that she is "revived" later on. If Aika is as strong a mage as she claims to be, there is that potential of resurrection.

The action scenes are really top notch, hope the budget was strong enough where it can remain this way for the entire season.

So it seems Aika's death has something to do with the Kusaribe clan. Mahiro's comment about meeting Yoshino's girlfriend must really hurt.

Another good episode and just a little deviance with Yoshino and Evangeline...
Spoiler for manga comparison:

Not a big fan of the music, but it's not going to deter me enough to stop watching...

Tempest series would be worth watching, if each episode, its just the secret agent girl getting beat up every episode.

Its hilarious.
secret agent girl is so gonna NTR this guy from the dead girlfriend.

This series is kind of moving really slowly, despite everything looking pretty.

This would be an annoying series to follow, might be decent once its all finished so you can finish it all at once. Every episode gives like 1-2 minutes of more information, and the rest is just the characters finding out what the viewer already knows or figured out themselves already

Man it's just killing me that I can't get this soundtrack yet. It's so fantastic it might be a strong contender for my OST of the year at this rate.

This show has had about as a good a start as any Bones has produced in a while. It's not afraid to let us know what it's actually about pretty early on and in fact goes out of it's way to ingrain just how important this revenge quest is to these two characters. Also the Princess certainly casts a wide net. She must be incredibly powerful to project that much influence over what is going on in the outside world from that secluded island. Imagine if she could find a way off how much it would help the two. That is if she is completely on the level which doesn't necessarily seem to be the case.

Yeah there's just lots to like about the way this is starting up, I just really hope it doesn't lose it's way.

In my old age, I find that often when there is this much angst over a show, it's doing something right. Not always (Guilty Crown, lol), but often.

First thing by BONES in a few years I've enjoyed. Though, at two episodes, I realize it's a bit early to make any definitive judgements.

The whole episode was one big tease, with the whole, "did he or didn't he" vibe concerning whether Yoshino was the killer or not (I'm pretty sure he wasn't, but...).

Great stuff. I'll probably be steering clear of this thread until the end, with all the manga readers here.

Only 2 episodes in and I already want Mary Su gone.
Please... PLEEEEEASE stop butchering Yoshino's character. His emoness is increasing exponentially, I couldn't feel any sorrowfulness from his character either.
I don't know whether I can take the anime Yoshino's character if this continues.

That ED was... really peppy. Seems quite out of sort to this series, really. It's hard to go from quoting Shakespeare to, well, peppy Jpop ED.

It'll be interest to see how Aika's murder plays into the world story. What little we've gotten (and all of the media) definitely suggest it's important, aside from just being Mahiro's reason to fight. I'm curious how it'll tie in.

I do much appreciate Mahiro's revenge as the driving force behind his actions. It's quite different from normal for a protagonist in a series to want to "save the world" as a side product of his main goal. Adds a fun layer of complexity to all of the choices. I just hope Okada Mari is kept inside the playing field for the adaptation.

His emoness in ep 1 and here are still ok....

What's not ok is that Mahiro actually seems...more affected by Aika's death than him O__o

And Yoshino is definitely NOT emotionless or apathetic

Mahiro's character from manga to anime transition has been perfect. It's just Yoshino that seems different because of all the padded out scenes involving him. Yoshino by his own accounts this episode said, what could he do for a dead girlfriend?

Well he could probably watch out for her brother and his friend so that looks like what he's going to do.

The way he said it though...if it sounded inwardly bitter or the sort of acidic "can't be helped" while still smiling brightly...that would have fitted him better than the deadpan way he said it.

I don't know, it didn't sound deadpan to me. He was quite bitter, but well, what can he do for her?

I don't find him deadpan at all. Just like what other posters have said here, bitter and let me add one more, helpless.

perhaps it'll really better to marathon the anime, but that means waiting for weeks!
