another new song released' tsubasa o kudasai' / 'give me wings'.

The special attraction from this song is that, we finally get to listen closely to mugi's and ritsu's vocals. Here are the lyrics, in case u're wondering who sang the specific part.

mugi:
ima watashi no negaigoto ga
kanau naraba tsubasa ga hoshii
YUI:
kono senaka ni tori no you ni
shiroi tsubasa tsukete kudasai

Mugi & YUI
kono oozora ni tsubasa wo hiroge
tonde yukitai yo
kanashimi no nai jiyuu na sora e
tsubasa hatamekase yukitai

Ritsu:
ima tomi to ka meiyo naraba
iranai kedo tsubasa ga hoshii
MIO:
kodomo no toki yumemita koto
ima mo onaji yume ni mite iru

Ritsu & MIO:
kono oozora ni tsubasa wo hiroge
tonde yukitai yo
kanashimi no nai jiyuu na sora e
tsubasa hatamekase yukitai

mugi&YUI
kono oozora ni tsubasa wo hiroge
tonde yukitai yo
kanashimi no nai jiyuu na sora e
tsubasa hatamekase

Ritsu& MIO
kono oozora ni tsubasa wo hiroge
tonde yukitai yo
kanashimi no nai jiyuu na sora e
tsubasa hatamekase yukitai

I realised mugi had a nice vocal indeed. So, when she sang the chorus along with YUI, her voice overpowered YUI. YUI had rather a cute and soft vocal.

Well, for Ritsu........slightly higher pitch. Hey, at least i know that's her voice when i first hear it. Mio, not to mentioned good vocal as always.

Great combination, exactly 4 different vocals.

Does anyone know what's the full anme of the light instrumental version of Tsubasa wo Kudasai that the girls play for Yui in the first ep? I'm asking because the Tsubasa wo Kudasai song on the Fuwa Fuwa Time single is very different.

Both songs are 'Tsubasa wo kudasai', just different arrangements. The song is hardly new. It was first performed back in 1971 by a folk group named 'Akai toori', and has been covered at least 22 times, according to it's Wikipedia.jp page. The Sakura-ko Keion-bu cover is included in the list. I first heard it on a Pony Canyon CD sampler in 1992 when it was a top 100 hit for the year.

Little late with this, but here's the sales update for all of the Keion music (week 7 / week 3/ week 1):

Fuwa x2 Time: 17 for the week, sales of 6110 (58931 total)
Don't Say 'Lazy': 22 for the week, sales of 4854 (134555 total)
Cagayake! Girls: 23 for the week, sales of 4227 (121305 total)
Original Soundtrack: 15 for the week, sales of 9221

Another amusing note; The song that took the number 1 spot the week that Lazy/Cagayake! debuted (Share the world by Tohoshinki) currently has total sales of 139324. There is a decent possibility that 'Lazy' may actually outsell them in the long run ... ^_^

I'm really liking the OST, pretty much all the tracks are really catchy. I personally love "Genki!"

I wouldn't say it's as memorable as say, Clannad's OST, but it's still really good.

I have a question, did the production team make those songs by hiring artists, or were they real bands that kind of sponsored the music through the show?

The best-sounding song in Mio's album in my opinion. Haven't caught on to the rest yet.

Not really. A lot of companies allow copies to slip out as early as the sunday before the release date. It's a common tactic to stack the deck for the first day sales rankings, since all copies sold before the release date count towards the first day total. My guess is that Pony Canyon sees another shot at a top 3 with Mio's single and is pulling out all the stops to make it happen. It's possible, since the only real competition next week is from Gackt and V6.

I'm listening to the single as I write this and I think it will do well. The key change to the chorus is a little jarring (i'll get used to it, i'm sure), but the bass hook at the beginning is killer. The ballad was a bit of a surprise as well, but she handles it well. I'm curious to hear Yui's single now to compare the versions of 'Let's Go!' and see if it's just the same arrangement with different vocals or a completely different sound for each singer...

Yui's single is out.

Yui's songs seems catchier somehow.

Tried playing Mio's and Yui's version of Let's Go at the same time, lol.

The same goes for Honjitsu Mankai Watashi-Iro (Hayate no Gotoku Second Season ED) which came out 2 days prior to the dated release.

Well I do know for a fact that sometimes pre-orders arrive earlier. I got my GS Complete Best 1 day earlier back then......my friend told me he pre-ordered and uploaded it to me immediately.

P.S Azunyan's will probably come with some ultra-cutesy cat or taiyaki related song. Uguu~.

EDIT :

Spoiler for spoiler:

Hey, folks, I've finally gotten around to writing my thoughts on K-ON!'s soundtrack. For those of you who know my tastes, I found that album to be decidedly subpar with far too many boring pieces to count. Hyakkoku's effort is bland and if you look at it from the standpoint of other soundtracks from shows in K-ON's niche, you'll find that it's poor even based on those standards.
