Halo - The Anime (anthology)

http://kotaku.com/5320898/details-about-halo-anime

Quote:
Microsoft is teaming with five productions houses for a series of seven short films called Halo Legends, reports the Los Angeles Times. The five production houses are some of the biggest names in the industry:

Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G., Studio4 C, and Toei Animation.

The creative director overseeing the production is Shinji Aramaki, director of Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina. Microsoft has also roped in Warner Bros. to distribute Halo Legends on DVD and via digital platforms early next year.

Much more info here: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/ente...oods-turf.html

Some extracts:

- Aramaki is directing his own short that tell the history of the Spartans, a warrior class in the game's fictional universe that main character Master Chief is part of.

- Studio4 C's project, tentatively called "Origins," is a two-parter that's about 30 minutes long in total and tells the entire 100,000 year history of the Halo universe.

- Another, from Toei, is the only one outside of the official canon and pokes fun at some of the game's characters.

- Microsoft gave the production companies largely free reign in how the shorts looked, but O'Connor and others were heavily involved in developing the stories and making sure all the details were right.

Hopefully Bones does a better and more interesting short than they did with Batman's short.

Why do they need to make a Halo anime when we already have Red vs Blue?

I must voice my concern for Toei... I mean... what they might do to Master Chief makes me think twice.

If this is Microsoft trying to break into the Japanese console market... I hope they're prepared for the Western backlash if they make the neccessary sacrifices to Halo's fluff in order to interest the Japanese. And if they don't, it's going to be a flop.

Someone quick! We need a Master Chief going SS4 photoshop stat! XD

I have some concerns about this the main one being Toei. I guess only time will tell but it has the Halo name and there are fans who just get cracked up and go ballz out for something like this. I will have to see trailer first.

Wow. It was already enough that my favorite artist (Nihei Tsutomu) did a chapter of the Halo comic (though this was much after I had stopped being a fan of Halo).

This is just interesting. I'll wait and see.

No. It's a bunch of movie shorts that take place in the larger Halo universe.

They're covering things not present in the game.
