Iria: Zeiram the Animation - my overall favorite
Akira - for the story line and animation (still surprises me that it was made in the 80's) Armitage - cause she's a badass DBZ - for the fights |

It's extremely difficult to choose a "favorite" anime because one cannot really compare say, a movie, with a TV series or OAV series. So I'll be posting my favorites in each category:
Movies: It's either Ocean Waves (I can Hear the Ocean) or Whisper of the Heart (If you Listen Closely), both by Studio Ghibli. Patlabor the Movie (1st one), Kiki's Delivery Service and Lupin III - Castle of Cagliostro gets honorable mention. OAV: Hands down, it's Patlabor: The New Files. Macross Plus, Tenchi Muyo, and 3 x 3 Eyes (both OAV series) are also very high on my list. TV Series: Scrapped Princess and Cowboy Bebop of course. Ranma 1/2, Kimagure Orange Road, Escaflowne and Full Metal Panic are the other TV shows which I admire a lot. There are perhaps other shows that I failed to include, my mind's a bit hazy at the moment. |

Nadesico. I like most of the other anime listed in this thread too, but there are a few I haven't seen.

Kenshin Kenshin Kenshin (Minus the nonsense fillers, plus the manga Jinchuu arc and the OVA, certainly.)
And in the overall category, Hikaru no Go would be my runner-up... but there really are so many fantastic series out there... gotta love them all for a whole range of reasons (uhm... Ebichu...) *guttermind* |
