This anime seems to be very interesting..
The idea of a Russian team of blade users and gun users fighting "The Last Battalion" and zombies or monsters from Hitler's army is great, especially that I am still playing P2. In that case, wouldn't the original audio be Russian whereas the Japanese audio track would be the dub? |

Just seen it.
Heh that was disappointing. I hoped something better from Studio 4°C specially the animation (the trailer shows the best scenes) which can be better even if there's some good scenes. Besides the direction is really clumsy and documentary aspect breaks the rhythm. The supernatural part could be a good idea but it tends to be ridiculous. However the chara-design and the set are quite nice and soundtrack's pleasant. In a nutshell : entertaining (girl + katana and twin hotties) and ridiculous but I expected something different.

Watched it an hour or so ago and I wasn't too thrilled.
While the characters/scenery/etc. were great, the animation was spotty at best and the documentary-like interview clips that popped up throughout the film were terrible. While the premise for First Squad was nice, the execution of the story I felt was mediocre at best and the ending wasn't exactly breathtaking.

Maybe it's just me, but the Russian cast... really isn't doing it for me. It's not so much the cast that is the issue (which I think in itself sound find), is rather it's the acting. I'm really hoping an official dvd release is to occur that it'll include the Japanese audio track. From what little I saw of the Japanese track, makes me wish this even more...
I'll post my thoughts on the movie later once I get a chance to watch the whole thing. |
