The rap I listen to these days is mostly Hieroglyphics/Del, some old Run DMC, and sometimes Immortal Technique when I'm in the mood. Haven't heard anything new in a looong time, though.

Actually I didn't mean you specifically (apologies), just noting that the forum is about "anime music and Asian music such as JPop."
Otherwise, carry on...

Immortal Technique = New York-based Latino rapper. Very political (and very leftist).

Don't have a clue who's in your av, BTW.

I'm very picky about my rap, due to the history of it and the corruption of its original purpose.
Rap and hip-hop, when they were introduced, were songs about life! They had meaning, they had purpose! Now...what is it?
"I'll take you to the candy shop, I'll let you lick the lollipop..."
"Bitch, I'mma KILL YOU!"
"I go into the club, one hand on my gun..."
It's a bunch of stupid Americans cursing to a beat. And it's thanks to douchebags like NWA, Public Enemy, and 50 CENT that rap is just...terrible now, for the most part. I like some of Eminem's stuff...and Snoop Dogg is just flat-out cool...but otherwise, rap has gone to shit.
An exception to this statement is the soundtrack to the little-known Xbox launch game entitled Jet Set Radio Future. Listen to the songs in that game, and you'll see what rap and hip-hop SHOULD be.

The Streets are pretty wonderful. I'd recommend checking out "You're Fit (But You Know It)" and "Such A Twat".

Are there any good asian rap groups? I love to hear rap in different languages and accents.

Joking. Yeah, I like rap! Mos Def is one of my favourite artists. I like Nas too. Nice to see a rap thread, because it seems the whole anime/video game fandom/scene/community hates the genre!

As for Japanese rap...well, I'm not really into it, partly because I can't understand what's being said.

I really like The Streets, Roots Manuva etc.

If you havn't heard Roots Manuva he's one of the best UK rappers that is not in the "Guns, bitches, drugs and cars" brigade.

Check out one of his older videos
This was a real school sports day they crashed lol.
