Soul Calibur IV (PS3/360)
Wow, can't believe there's no SC4 thread here yet.
Lots of awesome pictures popping up. This is the most recently released: http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/5...c06b844vz2.jpg http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/6...b92c3a6wk8.jpg Shows the new Raphael and Astaroth, as well as the first revealed new character, Hilde, who uses a lance and sword switching between what appears to be two stances. So who's psyched for this game? SC3 was pretty broken and buggy since Namco got the brilliant idea to not release an arcade version until after the console version came out. |

A lot of people are saying she's based off of Jessica Alba.

I've been a fan of Soul Calibur ever since part 2. (played the gamecube version because of Link of course)
But probably by the end of the year, I might get a 360, so I'll be getting this game when it comes out later next year. That new knight character looks interesting...seems like Namco has ran out of ideas for weapon stances and are now combining certain ones. A sword and a lance. Pretty interesting set up, considering she's a knight, she doesn't carry the usual sword and shield. |

That girl with the spear/lance looks pretty awesome. I love the new look for Raphael. He was one of my favorite characters from SCII, and he looks really badass with the armored look. Can't wait to play it.

I'm sure Hilde's 2P will be a bikini or something ;O
There are still plenty of weapons left to be explored though. A gun-bayonet combo would be interesting, as would other projectile weapons like a bow and arrow. Projectiles tend to be easily sidesteppable in the SC series, so it would be pretty balanced. The Create a Soul mode in SC3 had a lot of pretty unique weapons. The Grieve Edge (basically a blade on your shoes), lance, and steel fan were probably the most unique. |

Hilde looks totally French somehow... must be the lips.
Anyway, the big question is of course: Will we see Taki and Mina? I will not forgive Namco if they kill off my favourites! Sure, Taki is becoming an old lady by now assuming another three-year leap in time, but she's by far the most badass character in the series and you just can't fill the gigantic void she'll leave behind. Edit: A quick shot at google confirms Taki's presence in the game! Hooray! |

Taki looks very different in this game... older? Not really. More like darker, like she's been on drugs for a bit. It's a bit strange, really, because she's been so youthful looking in all the other games. Fan reaction to how she looks hasn't been so great. In Soul Calibur 3, the original versions of Xianghua and Talim released were actually deemed too "ugly", and were reworked to their current versions. None! They've already stated that console exclusives were a one-time thing. I'm actually glad, too. The console characters were terribly imbalanced, and Necrid in particular was just an abomination of character design. |

Taki does not look like she was on drugs! She just looks American now! Now if going from her OMG SO WHITE IT HURTS skin to regular is being on drugs...*shrugs*
Though I gotta say, her suit looks more like a suit and less like body paint now.
