Indeed. Ms. Sikijou is far more barbarous. She almost beats the hell out of Mahoro in Martial Arts Festival episode.

I was finally manage to watch the Ep13 of Onegai Twins yesterday, and until I saw the 'cast', I only just realised then that the seiyuu for Miina and Karen are actually the same for Miu and Ren in DearS.

Actually, not only that, but there is also the teacher (obviously) as well as Nia, the cat girl, whose VA played Ichigo in Onegai Teacher/Twins. That's a pretty substantial crossover in cast when you think about it, especially in key roles. I wonder whether they were trying to take advantage of the dynamics that already existed within the group? It's a neat observation anyway.

I didn't notice that either...

Karen/Ren are voiced by Ai Shimizu,
Miina/Miu by Mai Nakahara,
Ichigo/Nia by Yukari Tamura.

Onegai Teacher, Onegai Twins, and DearS have been produced by the same animation studio called Doumu, according to the ANN's anime encyclopedia. So, the most possible reason for choosing the same voice actresses is the production efficiency. It's quite natural that the production people plan to use voice actresses with whom they had already worked together, because in this way they can produce anime with less amount of time.

Edit: By the way, Ai Shimizu and Mai Nakahara are likely to be singing the ED song. I really love this song so I put the romaji lyrics here just for fun.

LET'S GO! Ashita mo HAPPY!
GO! GO! Hushigi na HAPPY!
Minna minna irasshai HAPPY COSMOS!
Kitto watashi no puwawawan kanji tan da ne!
Sore wa tennen datte! Guuzen datte!
Tonde tonde sawagou! HAPPY COSMOS!

Machigaete mo ki ni shinai!
Dattara nantoka narisou!
Mawari no koto wa (HI! HI!) kamawanai (Warui?)
Sora no kanata e tokimeki sagashite!

The reason why I don't sing "I'm your slave" at work (and as software support, that would be all too appropriate) is that I'm stuck with the ending theme instead. To me these songs are the best parts of the whole anime. Then again, I am a sucker for melodic Japanese pop.

There is some pretty good humor as well, but it is diluted by too much porn, in my opinion. Of course, those who watch it for the porn probably thinks the porn is too diluted with attempts at humor, and those who like both humor and porn must be in their own little heaven.

Incidentally, what WAS up with that weird comment at the end of episode 3? Why did she say that and then shut down? I don't know enough Japanese to doubt the translation, but it made no sense to me.

What "porn"? Where is this "porn"? Give me some examples. Here's some definitions to help:

pornography
n.: pictures and/or writings of sexual activity intended solely to excite lascivious feelings of a particularly blatant and aberrational kind, such as acts involving children, animals, orgies, and all types of sexual intercourse. [Law.com]

Pictures and/or writings of sexual activity must be present in order to satisfy this definition [no pun intended]. DearS, as far as I've seen, does not contain any pictures of sexual activity.

Here are some more common and/or non-legal definitions:
n.: material that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement [Merriam-Webster Dictionary of Law];
n.: creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire [Princeton Univ. WordNet];
n.: sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.

In summary, sexually explicit pictures that depict erotic behavior in order to: cause sexual excitement; stimulate sexual desire; cause sexual arousal.

In my own opinion, DearS is not sexually explicit nor does it depict erotic behavior [the teacher's actions are intended to be comedic rather than erotic]. And it most certainly does not give rise to any sexual desire.

DearS is nothing more than a T & A show, occasionally, briefly anatomically explicit [excluding genitalia], and no more arousing than a heavy gust of wind.

Choose your words carefully, lest you offend someone [unless you meant to]. "Ecchi" would have been a better term to use.

Oh just to be sure im making myself clear, Dears isnt ecchi in my opinion, its fanservice.
Somethign becomes ecchi when they sell the show using just that (*cough* Green Green *cough*)

I think people overuse the word ecchi for no reasons.

IMO you can't call an anime 'fanservice'. You can only call certain scenes/events fanservice.

Just think of 'ecchi' as 'naughty'.

DearS is definately ecchi.

Ahem... ok back to the topic, I think the ending is nice but still i prefer the opening more. I just love that part above.... the only problem that i have with the song above is this "I'm your slave" it sounds very disturbing, but the song really nice. In other words.... i find the song very disturbing but i still like it ^_^

I agreed that DearS is one ecchi show but i think the ecchiness is at the fair rate, meaning is bearable.

Really can't wait to see more of DearS.

I know, it's so weird. I also find the song somewhat disturbing, and on the surface the voices sounds so annoying... but for some reason I still like the song also. It's really catchy, somehow... And, I'm kind of ashamed to say this, but I think that the voice that makes the little comments in the intro and throughout the song sounds really cute, for some reason. Also, on the OP CD, they have a second song by the same group, and it's also quite good, I think; it's a nice contrast to this one, and the vocals are nicer.

I also agree with you, Yuun: the level of "ecchiness" in this show isn't quite as high as some people make it out to be. I think the show is cute and fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Heh, the very first time when I saw Hanaukyo Maids, Chobits and Love Hina. I thought they were extreme ecchi. I'm assuming the same response when I watch DearS. Actually the reason I want to check this anime out is because the character art looks interesting and a WHOLE lot of my fav seiyus are doing this anime.

No. Something like "Buttobi CPU/I Dream of Mimi", or even "The Fencer of Minerva", is "soft porn", or to equivocate, "hentai-lite". It shows people engaged in sex [the movements, the vocal sound-effects], there is a lot of T & A, and there is a great deal of innuendo, as well as discussion about it's [sex's] particulars, but genetalia are not shown.

"Ecchi" anime is devoid of the sex act [even though the term is used by some Japanese to refer to the sex act].

Hentai isnt even a real anime term, it should be ero, but im sick of arguing with otakus that wont take a different point of view then theirs

Hmm. Watched it again. There may not really be much more sexual innuendo than in comparable shows, like Girls Bravo or the old classic Chobits, but it seems more contrived, somehow. And the whole slave theme ... this is what we call "objectifying women", isn't it? It would hardly be the same if it had been Neneko picking up a male DearS.

I also realize now that some of the impression comes from each episode being ended by the otherwise enchanting chibi dance, which for some weird reason takes place against a background of a naked Ren. That may be why each episode leaves an aftertaste of pointless nudity. In truth, two of the most fascinating female characters, Neneko and Nia, aren't sexy at all. Hopefully we will learn more about them in the future.

I thought DearS were all females, at least I haven't seen any male DearS yet, or maybe I missed it. Which begs the question, how does DearS procreate in the first place? You know dreamless, that's about the biggest paradox I've heard today, conquering someone by being slaves to them ...so preposterous it must be true . Maybe the DearS' all of a sudden will become dominatresses in bed, and "conquer" them. Or maybe you're just being sarcastic. Anyways, I have this strange hunch that Miu isn't as nice and sweet as she seems...maybe it's that sinister like laughter she let out. And hey, Neneko is sexy in my book, attractive in a different sort of way. It isn't just about boobs and hourglass figure that makes a girl "sexy", at least, that what I think.

Regarding this anime's opening and ending songs. Do I like it? Let me put it this way, I skip them the moment they come up. The chibi dancing not enough to keep me watching ending. Ugh...not my style of music at all (Re: my sig).
