I always get the impression that male otaku outnumber their female counterparts, while the latter tend to be more active and vocal in certain fan activities. I suppose all of these shoujo-style fan works merely shows how popular these characters are with the female fanbase.

Sheryl is the type of female character that fangirls tend to like. (And AltoSheryl the type of couple they tend to like too.) I remember being surprised when I was perusing the fanart sites and noticed Michael/Alto wasn't that much more popular than Alto/Sheryl--and that there was quite a bit of overlap too.

Not really. She does not remotely remind me of anyone in Shojo. Alto on the other hand...

But in reality, its her character. She does have the shoujo persona. Even though, as we have witnessed on this forum, some younger girls cannot stand her
