That was the best episode in a long while. Crystall has started to do a better job at conveying the darker tone of the manga: we've got Black Moon people killing bystanders, combusting nun and Sailor Moon has finally killed a villian instead of some nonsensical workaround. The overall atmospere is darker and the plot is tighter. I hope this continues through the entire arc.

On the downside they did not make a completely new op and wiseman's voice and appearence are dissapointing, he was much more menacing and creepy in the old anime.

This is one thing that the original anime does things better than the manga and Crystal: whereas the manga/Crystal focuses more on the arc while giving just one focus episode to the rest of the Sailor Senshi, only to fall victim to a bad fate in certain arcs (i.e. what's going on in R and what eventually happens is Sailor Stars), the 1990's anime knows that the Inner Senshi are just as memorable as the lead female (sometime better, given how Sailor Mercury has been known to beat Sailor Moon in the Animage Grand Prix). As such, while the anime versions of R and Sailor Stars do include the negative fates that befall then in said arcs, it is handled in a way that doesn't sacrifice them getting their moments to shine (be it focus episodes or small bits in various episodes).

In the case of R, while the kidnappings of the Inner Senshi still happen in the 1990's anime

Wow...the Sailor Scouts kind of suck in this version of the show don't they ? "Hey you...don't you kidnap our friends. We're not going to move or anything, but you better not do that thing you are doing!"

I guess it's going to simply rely on Sailor Moon getting as many random powerups as are needed to make up for the fact she's likely to be the only person fighting.

I thought it was a bit random that Mars got her own speech moment before starting to fight, but guess that's because we're not going to see her for a while.

Isn't like they did better in the old version, I recall it had to tale 2 months to rescue one of them.

It's all memory based, but pretty sure they did a whole lot better in the old version. Certainly didn't get one-shotted and kidnapped on the first encounter.

No, in the old anime Rei beat Koan in their fight, though I think it was Usagi who fought her when she first appeared. As for the kidnapping, they all got kidnapped in one episode by Rubeus, after the 4 Ayakashi sisters had been defeated, and saved by Sailor Moon and Chibiusa in the very next episode.

In this episode it was disappointing to see Rei lose so easily, only for Usagi to utterly destroy her opponent just as easily only moments later. No sooner had they mentioned they got a powerup and it was already useless against the monster of the week.

In the old anime a lot of people disliked Chibiusa, especially since she was responsible for getting the senshi kidnapped (she had stolen Usagi's ginzuishou). Personally I didn't start liking her until the infinity arc where she became friends with Hotaru. I was surprised to find that this episode made me dislike Usagi more than Chibiusa.

Wow, Act 15 was a great episode. 3 weeks does wonders I guess, or they got a bigger budget now (hopefully). I didn't feel it was rushed at all and was scared to see how they would have to cram it in one episode. But it worked out perfectly. I disliked the old anime R season but the manga version was a lot darker and it's good to see that being portrayed here as well. So far, I'm liking it a lot.

It kind of irks me that the "guardians" of the princess are so powerless but I blame that on the manga.

Episode 15 was a great episode yet a depressing one. The kidnapping mai waifu Rei thing was just too much for me.

Well, this episode was okay. Still some really wonky animation, especially with Mars before she attacked.

Seemed to go really, really fast in the last couple minutes after they spent two minutes showing all the transformations. I mean, a really slow episode and then *WHAM* fight!

Definitely very effective.

As ridiculously small as this is, I am surprised they didn't have Shingo say something along with Usagi's parents.

Kind of odd that a Shinto Shrine Maiden would be attending a catholic school, her friends in the club seem pretty cool though, I don't remember seeing her classmates in the original series.

staying true to one religion is overrated

otherwise no one that isn't a catholic or christian could celebrate Christmas regardless of what it was meant for or what people turn it into or what companies are doing to it.

same deal with Halloween and countless other religion based holidays that many different people take part in.
(IE: day of the dead, it's literally against the Church...)

Like Chinese New Year... it's originally celebrated by the Chinese Monks based on Spring Cleaning.
So... if you're not into Buddhism or Shaolin, does that mean you can't celebrate Chinese New Year? no...

Now on topic...

I can't help but laugh everytime they do their poses... LOL

and I just noticed the series is moving super fast... episode 15 is basically like 5 episodes of R
And they removed the "filler arc" LOL.

Quality of education.

This happens actually fairly frequently even in the US. Lots of non-Catholics attend Catholic schools, often because of perceived superiority to the particular local public school system.

I am Catholic, but I knew a few non-Catholics in each Catholic school I attended throughout my Catholic school years in three different cities/states.

I didn't really read the manga, I was comparing to the length of the old anime.

tho I do know this series is based on the manga, whereas the original anime didn't.

so it just felt fast to me.
