Looks interesting. Basically, what others said.

BTW, that last couple of frames with a girl and scythe... that's from Sould Eater, right?

Ok, with duckroll's help (and 2ch), here is the staff shown in the video

Director: Masayuki Miyaji (E7)
Character Designer: Ayumi Kurashima (E7)
Animation Director: Masashi Okumura (Studio Ghibli)
Xamdo Mech Designer: Seiichi Hashimoto (E7, Planetes)
Mecha Designer: Kimitoshi Yamane (Cowboy Bebop)
Humanoid Designer: Kenji Mizuhata (E7)
Color Design: Hiroko Umezaki
Art Director: Takashi Aoi (DtB)

No Script or Series Compostion staff is listed. Perhaps Miyaji is doing that?

And no, this is NOT a movie. I'm totally positive of that.

Xamdou is definitely a Series project. Several months back some animator (don't even have the url anymore) had listed "Xamdo episode 1" on the works list of his blog, so it can't be a movie for sure.

I hope it's a TV series because that means more potential awesomeness, but there's no clue in the trailer unless it says something on the final credits scene which is waaaay to blurry to make out anything useful if you're me.

It seems that the mecha holding the girl in the promo picture is a transformed high-school kid, although why remains to be seen. Going wildly off on completely pointless speculation, this concerns me a little - if this means he's going to be protecting said busty girl I may start foaming rabidly at the mouth in fury unless they make her a decent character.
Or the trailer could be completely unrelated to the TV show like Seirei no Moribito's was.

That could very much be true. Many anime have been using that trend a lot. It's just so the viewers can get a small taste of what they may be in for. Which is probably why they call them teasers. Damn you Same!

Have you got a link for that? I would be very interested in seeing that.

I'm pretty sure it's this one (although there were a couple if I remember rightly?). None of those exact shots made it into the anime (and Shuga's design seems less podgy than it turned out in the show!).

Yep, they used the pilot film as a trailer so none of the animation made it into the anime.
It's like the first pv or teaser of Druaga no To that used the old chara design by Akiko Asaki though the anime will use design made by Junichi Takaoka as seen on pv2.

There's a Higher Quality of the Cam rip of the trailer floating around now.

Looks awesome. Animation quality is just wow

Design wise, this is definitely born out of Eureka Seven. Both character and mech wise, no surprise as the staff are basically all alumni from it.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to call this part of the "sentai" genre?

No because that refers to the genre with special forces teams. If you said "tokusatsu" or "henshin" then maybe. :P

(Yes I take pride in correcting you, just you. ^_^)

I can only honestly refer to live-action as "tokusatsu".

Technically, 90% of all anime has "special effects", so tokusatsu can only refer to a particular live-action style ala Gojira/Ultraman.
